Yep no more carbs!! I am so ready for it. I just didn't feel right the last week 1/2 with the way everything got caught and than carbs would go down easier...............

It was almost harder than bandster hell cause I was afriad of eathing nothing!!

The only bad thing is Robin and Dr. Baggs were waiting for me but they had no idea why I was there!! I think they thought I wanted another fill and made an earlier appointment...........so I had to go through Robin first!! LOL. I just told her I want some of the Fluid out I am hurting...........LOL. I was telling her that I get tighter around my period and she said no one has told her that before. I told her you better believe it but this time I have no room for it to tighten up!! She said it makes sense with hormones and all but she never heard it before.....

She also gave me some stuff to bring to the support meeting. She was also telling me the group fill before me was not very talkative and they all just sat there waiting for a fill............LOL. Poor Robin!!

Robin is easier to talk to one on one so I was glad I saw her today. She told me she would get Dr. Baggs and advise him I needed some fluid out so I could be comfortable!! :-) Yahoo!!

Glad to hear you are feeling better Tina, but know you didn't want that much taken out, but if you didn't do something you would have become dehydrated.

I had an awkward experience this afternoon. I stopped at costco on the way home from work to pick up a few items and tasted some tri tip. Then I got a frozen yogurt there and headed to Sam's Club (didn't find what I wanted at Costco). I wasn't quite to Sam's Club and felt like I was going to get sick. I ended up pulling over and pbing out the door - apparently the fro yo couldn't go down with the tri tip in my pouch. So while I am in Sam's Club I feel like I'm gonna pb again- I quickly looked around to see if there was a trash can that wasn't near a tasty table - no such luck. So I had to grab a plastic bag people put there bagel packs in and hide around a corner to pb, not once, but twice. Jeez I felt pathetic.

Guess no more tasties for me.

thanks Pam so glad I am not the only one!! LOL. I had to have a PB bag while I was driving all freaking day yesterday..............I just never knew when it was coming but it didn't help that I insisted on trying to drink Water all day long.................I finally got pineapple juice cause someone told me if your stuck it will dissolve the problem and I got a tiny bit of that down.............seemed to help so helpful tip ladies!! Pineapply juice might be good to have around...........

Fremont is definately closer, but I haven't found a Kaiser Fremont thread here. I would love to chat, I'm getting really excited, but sad to learn they've added an additional step in the process. I will be going to the "Info" class on Monday. Then hopefully to the orientation soon after. I do have sleep apnea, so I'm hoping things might go a little faster. I'm going to try to go with the flow, and try to remain calm about the amount of time between appointments - but I think that is easier said than done. I'm looking forward to chatting with you too!

Welcome pearls............:-)

Heather luckily I was still in the BAy area just stayed later to get the appointment in................

I was gonna come back tomorrow at 11am but they found something today so I got lucky. I didn't care about driving back I just wanted to see him before the weekend..............LOL!! Glad I don't have to go back next week though!! Although I might want another fill by next week!! LOL. Ah well.............

Still not liking being at 4cc's............................5.5cc is about right for me I think!! Or better yet

5. 75cc's ..........

Pearls, they added the info class because only a little over 10% of folks who went to orientation actually go through with some type of bariatric surgery! They think it's the easy way and then they find out it's SO not, and there are so many rules . . .so they drop out along the way, never lose their 10% or whatever. But we have all made it so far, and if you stick with us you will too! The faster you get to your surgery goal weight, the faster you will have surgery - so the timing is largely up to you! Warning though, do not start losing weight until after orientation! Your orientation weigh-in is your official "start" weight

Pam, yucko! No more snackies for you either :-(

Tina I had a really good one-on-one with Robin last time, too - so much so that I was going to write her a thank-you :-)

Evenin Richmond Ladies...and more!

Tina, so sorry that happened, but glad you are better. You will be back to your sweet spot in no time...now that you even know what it is about, and the body soft signs to listen for. I am still working on that, with how much eating, what eating and when, def not as much in the morn. Pam, u brave to tri tri tip at Sams! Not even attempting steak yet have done small pot roast (soupy) bites with veggies.

Welcome Pearlsgirl...this is a great thread to build support and wonderful sisters of surgery with. I was banded in SSF, and consider this my 'home' support with these ladies, being that I live north of Roseville. How ever we can help better prepare you, we are here! Can u even make it on Sat?

Candra, dont ever apologize for so many posts, lol, we enjoy reading them and continuin the conversation! Riley, woman, we actually get to meet!!! Candi, Christine, can u make Sat?

Nicole, let me know, I think me hubby is staying home, if you wanted to carpool from here, we can! By the way...have you thought of cutting your hair for different styles to work with through this phase...also might help release tension on scalp with ponytails and putting it up? Just a thought. I found some tablets at my Absolute Nutrition store, will bring with.

sleep well ladies! :) (Heather, where a name tag, u will be so much less, I need to know who you are! hehehe)

Sometimes reading the posts here make me wonder if some people just weren't mentally ready for WLS and needed more time with the bariatric team psychiatrist. Complaining about the limited drink/food choices early on... blah..blah...blah. The living to eat mentality really needs to go and be replaced with eating to live. JS

We have to remember that everyone moves at their own pace. For some it may be harder to adjust, people may have other factors at play that feed into the unhealthy relationship with food e.g. eating disorders, trauma. I'd hope those who you are referring to address this outside of this forum, with a professional.

This is a place to feel safe to vent, seek advice, hopefully without judgement.

Compassion goes a long way :)

Seems it would be more compassionate not to perform a WLS on someone until they are mentally ready for it. Unless of course they are on death's door...

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.
