Welcome Analynn, nice to meet you. I think you'll find that after awhile these ladies make you real comfortable and they help you stay on track.

ok, now for me, my supervisor took me to lunch to Celebrate my promotion and you would have thought I weighed a buck'o five. We went to a Thai restaurant, I was doing good with the meal I had broccoli beef NO rice. Had a minor mishap with a glass of wine, celebration and all, but it all went to hell when I decided (after the bill came) that I had to have the fried banana and ice cream.

Tell me does this get better with the band? I know I’ll still have cravings and the ice cream will probably go down just fine but the fried banana? The band had got to say heck no to that. I know we are all kind of the same with these uncontrollable urges (well mind games) Does anybody ever really master it? Does it mean I have no will power?...Obvioussly the wine has me philosophizing. :)

Jes congratulations on your promotion! Girl enjoy yourself because this will all halt once you are banded. I don't eat ice cream much I love fried plantains same family with bananas and girl I haven't given up eating that yet, however I eat it in moderation. There somethings that they totally tell you not to eat after band but once you heal, you can eat almost anything in moderation and once every blue moon that's one of the reasons why I got the band versus GB. I need to take my own advice LOL. The good news is that my scale is happy again.

I'll be there Reggie!

Candra, (the cancer thing) That was totally one of my reasons I told the docs when I tried to get banded a few years ago. They still said NoWayJose. Screw 'em. Now I'll get my shiny new band with the cooles group of gals... and be fully supported! And I get to have surgery at a center of excelence! I feel so lucky!

I have my referral and will be going to the Lap Band Information class on Monday, Aug. 17th at the San Jose Kaiser. I'm not sure if this is the orientation or yet another step in the process, does anyone know if there's a difference between the orientation and the information class? I'm really excited to be starting this journey, and very glad to see this website. I've found so many posts that are really helpful, especially the posts about the Bay Area Kaiser program. I'm glad you're all here and I am looking forward to getting to know you better. :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
