Jeez look at you, you already lost 3 of them! Holy smokes girl!

It took me 2.5 months; my weights are in my siggy. I can tell you that I lost nothing during the holidays, but other than that - with my wonderful 2x a week support group up here - I ROCKED that weight off! I knew it was the LAST time, and that made all the difference in the WORLD to me

Go for a walk then, before it gets dark!

Once you have not done carbs for 4-5 days, you won't be starvin' anymore. For the few times that I was, I used (shh - don't tell Robin or Liz) those special K Protein waters, they have protein + Fiber so they will get rid of "starving" for long enough for you to go to sleep at night! Not supposed to use them tho because they have more than 5 calories per serving - I think they're 30. I also used Soy Slender chocolate, which is just sugar-free lofat chocolate soy milk but it has 9 protein 4 fiber for only 70 calds and a nice warm mug of that at night REALLY did the trick for me, and still does!

Whew.... Just finished reading about 7 pages or posts. Busy much ladies?

Tamra, Dr. Fisher wants me at 250 for surgery too! But to me that's 84 lbs. I'm sitting around 46 lbs lost. I've kinda plateaued. I think my body has to adjust to this and I think the stress is causing it too. And my skin doesn't like the stress either. Ugh.

As far as the 1200 calorie diet, I don't alter it all that much. During the first week I had to remind myself that it's ok to be hungry, I wasn't going to starve. I do the Protein first, (and I got out my food scale) then I have my fruit/veggies and do my carbs last, if there's room in there. This is a most of the time thing. I'll have a lot of salads with chicken and cheese, or I'll do a Breakfast burito with 1 scrambled egg, 1 oz diced ham, 1 oz cheese on a low carb tortilla. It was really hard starting the 1200 cal plan, but I'm good now. I've been more successful than I've ever been. When I was 19, I lost 17lbs, it was the only other success I've ever had.

I think Dr Fisher's weight goals do have a lot to do with where you carry your weight. I carry it all in my boobs and belly, thus 84 lbs to lose. Although I sometimes wonder if Dr. Fisher realized how much he wanted me to lose. I went in feeling good about how much I had already lost, and he never said a thing about it! The funny thing is now I don't feel like I'm going to be ready for surgery! With the exception of these last 2 weeks now, I've been losing fast. (approx 48 lbs in about 10 weeks).

Stick with the diet! Don't snack. And exercise. I try to get 1 hr cardio in 5 days per week. School is keeping me a little busy right now, so I haven't been to the gym since Sunday, but I'll get back to it tomorrow.

Candra- Congrats on your surgery date!!

Oh my GOSH you guys - I mean girls - if you want to read a good blog, check out Wendy's Ugh - Lap Band Surgery and Lap Band Discussion Forum

This little gal (bandster from Texas) has been through EVERYthing - husband diagnosed with MS, Hurricane Ike, gallbladder surgery, a rare allergic condition brought on by her weight loss - and yet she is absolutely grateful and finds the good in people and is just full of life and . . OH! I just love her! Tina maybe we can move by her if we get laid off!

Anyways - reading her blog entries just really reminded me of how fortunate we are to have our health and all that we DO have . . . we are truly blessed, even though times are really tough and unsure right now. And oh yeah Wendy also says quite a few times that she's too tight when stressed . . . we know what that's like, but this girl is dealing with some STRESS

Heather - 46! OMG! I am so proud of you!!!! You are totally rockin it! Dr. Fisher probably knew that you would respond to a challenge head-on like this :-)

Tina if you call Kelly for an unfill appt., tell her you have to come in next Friday with me cause Dr. Baggs needs to take it OUT of your band and put it IN my band! We can do a (very small) group vegetarian nutrition appointment with Robin too! I will have my older son with me but he can only narc on me, he's got nothing on you LOL!!

Congrats Tamra, I'm glad you liked Fisher. I have another friend that has him for her RNY and she like him just fine too. Take everyone advice and cut back on the carbs to give you the jumpstart you need. I know it helped me. I had started following the binder diet but I found myself cheating more. Once I cut the carbs & sugar I didn't have the strong cravings.

Good luck, you'll be fine.

I had my orientation on May 9, 08 and I had lost my 20 lbs by my psch appt 6 wks later, ended up losing 30 by my surgery Aug 26, 08. I have lost 44 since my surgery - which was 11 mths ago - I think it was easier before the band, but doubt I would have kept it up this long so I am grateful for my band. It may take me another year to get to goal at this rate, but that is okay. I made a bad choice and had ice cream for dinner tonight - don't know why.

Go Candra!!! YAY how exciting! I am so happy for you:D AND JEss, and everyone.

Tamra girl that can all be gone in 4 weeks. If you look back at the first 6 pages you will see from orientation i was 264 then at my psych appt 4 weeks later i was 232.. yes that is right in 1 month i lost 32 lbs, AND dont ask me how.. not a freakin clue:) ALL i can say is i wanted it sooo bad.

I personally agree that it was easier pre band, i think now, its harder cause we have to get just enough cals etc.. BUT, i would probably have gained it all back by now.. like always.

I am so happy from everyone and we are all going to be at goal SOO soon!:juggle:

Sorry id respond more but im dead tired.. good nite!

I've been dreaming about it for 30 years or so. It's time to make it happen!

I joined yesterday when I was struggling with this preop diet...
It typically comes and goes, the hard times and easier times. I'm on day 6 of 14  shakes, water, sf Popsicles and jello. And I might actually be losing my mind. But, oh dear lord has the fear set in. Not about the surgery itself, but life afterwards. If I feel this crappy on the preop diet, am I going to feel like this forever after?
I know most of the answers are no, not forever. It might be worse after for a while, then get better. I know it's a more of a mental challenge than physical after the first couple weeks of healing. I get all of that. But I'm starting to feel scared about losing myself afterwards.
It might be my hormones or desire to chew something salty talking.. It may go away soon or tomorrow.. I can hope, anyway. But right now.. The fear is real.

And this liquid diet can bite me.

Fear is normal, but if it makes you feel any better, I'm 4.5 months post-op and the pre-op diet was by far the hardest part of the whole process. There will be challenges and a lot of new things to learn, but I can honestly say at this point I feel so much more "back to normal" and was even able to go on a week-long vacation with my kids without stressing over it. It's so worthwhile.

      2. OhMyGawdItzKla

@NickelChip This actually does make me feel better! Thank you so much! After the onslaught of Covid, we've all had to deal with a "new normal", so I know it's possible. It's just the fear and frustration in this moment that makes me question if I can find another "new normal" afterwards. The thought of just a few more months seems daunting some times, but I really do appreciate input and real experience. I'll use that to get me through for a few more hours! LOL. Thank you so much! And I'm glad everything is going so well for you! ❤️

I started my 10 day pre op diet yesterday I need flavor!! I'm not big on the chocolate protein shakes so I just got to use up what I have was thinking about freezing it to make it like a ice cream so its something I can chew a little. Idk this is hard but I know I can do it just need to find new things to try

You can try. I've read other people have had good results with protein-shake popsicles, etc. My personal experience with it? Sucked.

I tried making 'fudgesicles' with a couple different flavors of a premade shake, as well as a protein powder I blended myself and all of them came out revolting? The powder ones, all the protein sunk to the middle; the premade shakes, the popsicle had a disgusting texture and the protein seemed to leave a weird fluffy film on the outside? I couldn't stomach it.

Maybe look into flavoring additives? I was able to have sugar-free coffee /soda syrup flavorings, sugar-free drink flavorings and baking additives like almond, rum or pepperment extract. The extracts helped me the most as they added no extra sweetener.

On the other hand, if you can get your hands on an unflavored/unsweetened protein powder, the syrup flavorings are perfect. I love to use Boost "Just Protein" (which is unflavored) with milk and a Chai-flavored sugarfree syrup.

        Good luck!
