Don't touch her, she banded !

Recommended Posts

I was in Toronto to get a fill on Thursday. Everything went well, but on Saturday I started not being able to eat yogurt, then it became juice and Water. A little tea was ok. On Sunday morning things were the same so I called the clinic knowing it was closed, but hoped there was instructions if you need help.Nothing. Sooo I went to a hospital down town Toronto, I think it was Mount...... ( something , Well they would not touch me because of the band and said that I should wait until Monday... I was flying bacl on Sunday night...... As things go, It settled down so I left Toronto. What should I have done ? I am a little concerned, what if it flares up... what caused it ? Pretty scary not feeling that you can swallow water !

You likely had some delayed swelling from the fill. The squeezing of the fill can cause the stomach tissues to swell which will make you tighter. Probably why the tea went down--hot drinks sometimes help reduce the swelling a bit.

I am surprised at the reaction of the hospital though.

Me too ! Considering I was from out of town, I expected something ! Well now that I am back at home things are better. I am able to eat thick Soup, Protein Shake and crackers. I am so taking it slow. I will ask the clinic what I should do if that ever happens again.

Good to hear you are doing better!

I was overfilled on my last fill, I felt fine when I left the office but that night I got tighter. I couldn't get anything down and by the next morning I could barely swallow my own saliva. I had to wait until the afternoon to get my slight unfill. So I understand how miserable you felt.

I have to fly to Toronto to get fills so I sure hope that it keeps going good. I really don't want to have to fly back.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
