Flower, it is normal to have no restriction when you have NO fill...it is also normal to eat when you have NO fill. Relax! You will know soon enough if your port has flipped or not...if it has you get it fixed, if it hasnt , you get your fills. No need to consume yourself now with worry and stress, not a darn thing you can do about it until you go in for the fluoro, you will make yourself carzy stressing about it. I'm sorry you are gooing through this but the best thing you can do for youself right nwo id to relax and wait for the results :)

Hi Flower,

My doctor always does the first fill with a contrasted x-ray so that he can see where the port is (maybe this is the same thing as the fluoro that La Madam was referring to?). I haven't had my surgery yet, so maybe I'm not the best one to give you advice; I just wanted to tell you to hang in there. You are NOT doomed to be fat, and you WILL get through this. Good luck!

I just wanted to let you know I went through the same thing. My port area was very sore and bruised for about 6 weeks. I had no restriction AT ALL by the time I got my first fill and had actually put some weight back on. Today I had my 8th fill taking me up to 8.9ml in a VG band. Dont worry!!!!! You WILL feel restriction when you start getting fills, it does come :D

I forgot to add that my port feels like it moves all the time...especially when I bend, every fill I have had has been under fluro and it hasnt moved, it is still securely in place.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
