First fill today got questions! Help!

Recommended Posts

Ok had my first fill today! At around 330pm. It didnt hurt a bit, just pressure as he was pushing down to fill. Then my band hurt, actual pain from the band back to the port. Is this normal? I have had plenty of liquids since, but I am having a good deal of discomfort at the band site. Probably swelling? It is now 10pm and I am uncomfortable enough to go and take some of my post op hydrocodone. Is that normal? How soon after did you resume food? My doc said 24 hours of liquids. Just wanted some advice.. Thanks in advance. Kelli

I wish I could help you but i haven't had my first fill yet. How big is your band? How many cc's did he put in? My band is a 14cc band and has been placed on Nov 19 but no fills until Dec 29. My doc said he would put in 5cc the first time!! Is that too much?? Any help with this would be greatly appreciated!!

Hi. I have had 2 fills so far, and I have had some discomfort that reminded me of the initial post op discomfort, up under the ribs into the left breast. It got better by the next day. I think there must be a nerve that runs by there that gets set off sometimes, especially if I over eat!!!!! Take Care!!!

Gee, my last fill was 1-1/2 ago, haha, my advice, follow your doctor's orders. Some doctors suggest more than 24 hours liquids, my doctor says liquids 24 hours too.

I never had any pain related issues after any fills, even the first year which was NOT under flouro, so not sure why you are. I did have a panic attack during my first fill, four years ago, I hate needles.

Good luck on your journey.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
