How Did you Do Last Week?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone!

I haven't been well the last week, so I've lost a bit more than usual. I can't get my ticker to work, but I'm at 179.8 this week.

I was scheduled to see the fill doctor on Thursday but HE had to cancel - he had a minor procedure a week ago and isn't ready to come back to work yet, so I wont' see him until next Thursday. I can live with that.

I just hope that I don't regain the extra pound I lost. It puts me just at the 20 pound loss mark, and I love it.

I did ok on Thanksgiving and then over the weekend for Shabbat. I got something stuck on Thursday & it took almost an hour of PB'ing to get it unstuck. Didn't lose much by way of real food, but still yukky. That was the end for me, so I did really good. Not the way I wanted to do it, though.

My illness has me feeling carsick all the time. My eye doctor thinks he found the problem, so hopefully once really bad things are ruled out I can get on meds & feel better. The upside - I'm eating a LOT less, LOL. Kind of like perpetual morning sickness, and there is NO way I could be preggers (no equipment anymore, and no husband, etc. - talk about a medical miracle if I was, LOL). Seems to be some Fluid around my brain that shouldn't be there, but it can be resolved with diuretics and one short course of cortisone. I can't start treatment, though, until they rule out the really scary stuff. Oh joy - rapture! It really isn't as bad as it sounds. I just have to wait to get my treatment so I can get feeling better, get back to the gym, etc...

That's my story. Hope you all had a fabulous Thanksgiving & Shabbat & weekend.

All the best,

I hope you are feeling better. It seems that this must be a very hard time of year for good weight loss. I needed a big unfil - 2cc - 2 weeks ago. I was throwing up a whole Shabbos, so I went to the emergency roo on Sunday after speaking to my doctor. I have gained some weight, but I am trying to stay very positive and holding on to my Monday afternoon appointment as my savior. I need to feel restriction again and get back on track - my goal feels so close already!!!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
