trina4ufl 0 Posted December 4, 2008 I actually feel great today. I walked a ton and went shopping with my mom. I got tired but I think that's because I've really ingested very few calories and almost no Protein on this clear liquid diet. I'm up to full liquids as of this evening and ate oatmeal with no issues. Walking definitely helps tremendously. I ate my chewable Multivitamins, am weaning myself off the pain meds, and feel actually pretty normal. I can't feel the port and I dont feel weird when eating/drinking. I also have no hunger, though I'm told that doesn't last. I'm down 15 pounds from when I started the pre-op diet. I had a pretty busy day shopping and talking on the phone with friends and family and am A okay. Thanks for all the support! Good luck to FL Pete, JoanneMarrie, Stewey, and everyone else being banded this week! You'll do great!:cursing:

plh2u 0 Posted December 7, 2008 How is everyone doing that have December dates? My date is Dec 17th, I will be having my gallbladder out also. I am nervous as to be expected. I also had to have a stress test on friday--that was gruelling. And I have to have an echocardiogram tomorrow morning. I have to get "cardiac clearance" before they can operate, since my EKG came back "abnormal". I had to go visit a friend in the hospital where I amhaving surgery and she was right where my surgery will be in the pre-op room! So I got to see how it will all go down! It was kinda scary but I left thinking "hey, I can do this!" I was at 250 when I first when to the Bariatric Center, now I am at 239(or maybe less now) So I am doing everything I am supposed to. Just have to get comfortable instead of all of these nerves. Blessing and much luck to all of the Holiday Hotties out there! Next year we WILL be Holiday Hotties fighting off those men(or women) with a stick!

Now I need to tell myself that on the 17th. I am a little jealous of you, I would like to get mine over with! I'm Dec 17th at 9am central time. You will do fine, just stay on top of those pain meds!!! Thats the main thing everyone tells me! and please keep us posted! God Bless you--oh wait, he already has!

JoannMarie 0 Posted December 8, 2008 (edited) Kerry - I will be thinking of you tomorrow morning. I know you will do just fine. I was surprised at how easily things went at the hospital - they seem to have all this down really well. I wish you a successful surgery and speedy recovery! gmechile 0 Posted December 8, 2008 Hi Everyone, I was banded on December 4, and it couldn't have gone more smoothly. I have some experience with laproscopic surgery as I donated a kidney to my father laproscopically a couple of years ago. My doctor insists that I stayed over in the hospital (my surgery was at 4:30). I had no pain, did not ask nor take any pain medication, the worst was a sore throat. By Friday night, I was sleeping on my side and my stomach -- I had no idea how well this surgery was going to go! I'm on a clear liquid diet for 2 weeks, and thus far i'm not hungry. I am asked to drink at least 48 ounces of liquids throughout the day, a sip at least every 20 minutes, and asked to walk around at least once an hour to release the gas. I did have some tighness in my chest from the gas. A couple of tricks that I learned from my last surgery is to get a back massage from a friend/family member etc. This will release some of the gasses, and help pass them easier. Also, just rubbing the incisions, lightly, helps to circulate the blood and have them heal more quickly. I'll definitely be on line more often now, and look forward to any advice and support that we can give each other! Gretchen
chelsbels 2 Posted December 24, 2008 Hey everyone! After 5 Days of the pre-op liquid diet my surgery has gotten postponed because of blood work not being sent back in time. So I might have in done in the new year and would no longer be a december banster  please keep me in your thoughts that everything works out with insurance in 2009 and that my blood work comes back okay! Oh, girl - that is so disappointing. We have to do a lot of "psyching-up" to get through all this - how hard it is to be told you will have to wait a little longer. I hope everything comes back okay and you will have your band as the new year is young! Please let us know how everything goes. We are still here for you!
