Hello Amy: Welcome to LBT.

I was banded on 11/11/08 and I have no regrets. I did have a slight complication. During surgery my spleen began to bleed slightly. After surgery, I had to have my blood drawn every three hours to make sure blood cell count was at the proper level.

Additionally, I had a difficult time with the pains meds while in the hospital. My one night stay turned into 2.5 days in the hospital. I was okay with that, because I really was not ready to go home.

By day 7 post op I was doing GREAT! I started driving, shopping and doing light chores all on day 7. I went back to work on 11/24/08 and felt really GREAT. I was not tired, I felt energetic, and was in no pain.

I am now working out on the treadmill at home and working out with very light free weights for my upper body.

I am on the mushie phase of my post op diet. I have great restriction, because my doctor pre-filled me with 3ccs at time of surgery. Total weight loss pre-op diet and post op diet is 29 pounds.

Good luck!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
