Protein Shake Help!!!!

Recommended Posts

:biggrin:Hi every one, I am new to this site and I am starting my pre-op diet Tuesday. The only guidelines my doc told me is it has to have at least 15g of Protein and a low sugar count. I am trying to find a powder to keep the cost down, but I am so confused as what I am looking for. Does anyone have any suggestions? I would prefer to not order online because I have to start Tuesday. Any help would be great!!

Thanks!!

Well I'll be honest -- Protein shakes in general are not cheap. That said here are 3 that you can buy either in the grocery store or a Target and they are pretty good. Good Luck.

1. CarbSolutions $10 per can (about 14 servings)

Regular grocery store or Walgreens

Don't make them w/all Water -- vanilla is better than chocolate. If you are not use to Protein Shakes these are pretty thick and chalky -- but I actually like them.

2. EAS Advant Edge Carb Control Shakes

About $5-8 for 4 (not powder)

Walmart or Target

3. Metab ReSet

$29.99 for about 14 servings

Whole Foods

The chocolate is really good.

i use EAS Advant Edge Carb Control shakes from Walmart - about $5 for 4, if you drink them nice and slow they really fill you up and taste nice too.

good luck with surgery

GNC has great products. The Atkins drinks and Ease products can be bought at Walmart or Target and have at least 15 grams or Protein.< /p>

Prior to my surgery 1 month ago I bought a bag of EAS vanilla powder at Sam's for $32.00 . I drink a shake every day and I am still on my same bag. Also if you call the company they will send you coupons for $1.00 each . I mix it 1/2 milk 1/2 Water and it is really good. I actually crave it sometimes. :thumbup:The milk makes the difference. With straight water they suck. I also bought the pre-make chocolate which was much more expensive and it is nasty.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
