Tummy growling... A LOT

Recommended Posts

I was banded on Monday 11/24/08, so today is my 6th day banded. I'm doing very well, so far... I have hardly no pain, I'm not really hungry (although I am VERY tired of shakes and water), and I'm already down 12.5 pounds.

The biggest issue that I am having is that my stomach is ALWAYS growling. It's not in pain... it's not making me hungry per say... but it's a CONSTANT reminder that I have nothing really in there.

Is this normal? Is this a temporary thing that will subside after my body gets used to having nothing substantial in my stomach?

Thanks everyone...

Shanna

Start eating Soups - nothing chunky - I found that Tomato Soup helps fill me up a bit more. I'm on the mushy phase but I was eating Tomato Soup during the full liquid phase. Also - make sure you are getting enough Protein from your shakes - try to get 50 grams in if you can.

I was banded 10/31/08 and my tummy is always talking. Kinda gets loud too.

I talked to my surgeon about this today. I still get it often. And loudly! He actually heard it sitting next to me. He said it's actually the band talking to me. How nuts does that sound? But I then called a friend of mine who also has a band, she said her's still talks to her. It's not that I'm hungry when it goes. That's something that people decided. It gave us the ok to overeat.

Mine talks to me a lot as well. I was shopping today and at one point it sounded like I was sneaking baby puppies under my sweater and they were playing.

It's crazy!

My tummy did that too. It was so embarressing and I was glad I was at home recovering rather than at work. I swear people could hear it in the next room, because it was making so much noise. My doctor allowed me to have sf nonfat plain yogurt during my lqiuid phase stage, which really helped with the growling.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
