I was banded on November 3rd. I am not in the soft/pureed food stage. I eat pretty much anything besides red meats and Pasta. My dietician told me I need to eat meals between 1/2 cup and 3/4 cup three times a day. However, I never get full! I am not hungry afterwards but I never get my full. She told me it's normal the first six weeks.

But, what do I do about cravings? I am constantly craving things (especially while I am PMSing!!) and I want to eat them and sometimes I do  and I know I shouldn't. Any tips?

It's hard to resist cravings and a lot of that is going to come from changing your behavior. The path I'm taking is I talk to someone once a week who deals w/addictions and we have been working on some behavior modification techniques to pass over the cravings.

The band won't fix your feelings or your mind ... so that's why I'm working on that part separately but equally as hard.

Some of the things I now do is remember that a feeling or desire is not an emergency and it will pass. Sometimes I just white knuckle it. I go deep down inside myself and just remind myself that I won't feel like this forever. I also sometimes break it down super small -- "Can I deal w/not eating this for a minute?" "Can I deal w/not eating this for 2 minutes" -- some days are like that ... the entire day. It's a lot of minutes.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
