Banded 10-24 1st fill today

Recommended Posts

I wa so nervous and there was nothing to it. I had lost 22lbs since surgery/ The NA met me at office b/c I live 2 hours away and she was about to go in to work at ER. She had me lay down and numb port are and then gave 3 ccs

She pushed a little hard but found port very easily/ She said usually the 1st fill is not as much restriction. I go back on 12-12 for next fill. I hoper everyone had a nice holiday. On now to better things.:cursing: Kathy

Hi Kathy, yep, the fills really are no big deal. When they numb the port area, you literally don't feel a thing.

Congrats on your 22 pounds lost, that is wonderful!

I just had my first fill on Monday. I didn't get numbing at all. bummer.

It stung a little, but I assume to put the numbing, it's using a needle too?

It didn't hurt too bad, but man did they push around to get it jabbed in the middle of the port.

I felt a bit sore there later. I only got 2.5cc's, and i go back dec. 22nd.

I'm not feeling anymore restriction? are you? I've been on liquids for two days.

I got a 3cc fill on monday. I know they do push awful hard. Wow, but I was numb. I don't feel a whole lot of restriction yet. My right side where my band is is still sore. Not painful, just irritated. I'm able to eat smushies, anything really hard I havn't tried since fill. I'm not scheduled for another fill until 1-19. Which seems like it will be too long to wait. My doc is an every 6 weeks kind of guy. Hopefully that works.

I guess I am in "bandster hell" After 1st fill of 3ccs, I am still hungry. I am making good choices, but it is getting harder.

She told me the 1st fill would probably not do anything. I am scheduled for 12-12 for 2nd fill. The nurse said that should be better. They did not tell me to do soft food or anything, just whatever I could handle.

She even suggested getting a couple of chicken McNuggets and eating them before I leave town to make sure everything was OK. I live 2 hours away. I am so ready for

2nd fill. Kathy:wink_smile:

I just got my first fill yesterday- 4cc's in a 10cc band. I had to drink a cup of Water slowly to make sure I can keep it down with no porblem. I have to have shakes and liquids for 3 days, then onto mushies for 2 days and then back to solid foods. I dont feel any restriction yet, but I was told by my friend, who also has the band, that once we get to actual food , we will feel the differnce, as liquids go down very easily. My PA said that sometimes it take a while for the restriction to kick in. I'll try to be patient if you will. Good luck to us.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
