rdsing 0 Posted November 30, 2008 I got the surgery two days ago on Nov. 28th. It went really well. Except for my weight I am a basically healthy person, no complications. I boarded Amtrak at 7:00 pm Wednesday for the 24 hour trip from Austin to El Paso where I was picked up and taken to Angels Hospital in Juarez, Mexico. Dr. Rodriguez and two other doctors performed the procedure on Friday the day after Thanksgiving Day. 20 hours later I was on the 24 hour train back to Austin. I got back home 2 hours ago. I don’t recommend doing it all this quickly but I really had no choice. My only complaints are pain at the port sight and really evil gas!! I'd been trying to get financing for a year. It was a real nightmare. I didn't believe it was really going to happen until I was in post-op. Since then the phrases that have kept coming to mind are "my life is changed, I have a new life." I have been trying to take weight off for all but the first 6 years of my life. When I was turned down for financing last year I decided that I didn't want to live anymore but I have to kids and a friend talked me down. I kept trying to lose weight and even started working out everyday. I just kept gaining. This lap band really is a new lease. Today I am morbidly obese but at least I have hope. Can’t wait for the “after.” I’ve had enough of “before.” rdsing:thumbup:
