beadecked 0 Posted November 30, 2008 I can't have Splenda or Equal. Different nasty reactions to both. I can only tolerate Sweet & Low and have not found any sf drinks. I am hoping to get banded or bypassed in a couple months and not being able to have sf anything while going through the process worries me. Not able to have sugar is not fun either when there are no subsitutes that I can tolerate in sf yogurt, etc. Ideas folks? Anything would be appreciated.

RestlessMonkey 7 Posted November 30, 2008 Honestly MANY bandsters just eat smaller portions of regular foods. Real sugar won't hurt you; and you won't be drinking diet soft drinks etc anyway. The only problem I can see is pre- and post-op; not sure how the Protein Shakes etc are sweetened. I say discuss with your nutritionist. (the surgeon will have one if you don't!) You don't need to consume things that are artificially sweetened to be a successful bandster.
Jachut 487 Posted November 30, 2008 I eat moderate amounts of real sugar - I dont do SF anything really, apart from maybe 2 or 3 diet cokes a year. I hate the taste of artificial sweetener and believe its far worse for you than sugar is. so........ I dont make sugary foods the basis of my diet. They're treats. You're better off training your palate to not need everything sweet than consuming loads of artificial sweetener in everything.
