Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving

Recommended Posts

Hope your day was fantastic. Hope you were able to keep your eating moderate. Hope there was lots of family, food, friends and fun.

I had a lovely day. My husband's mother and brother came in on Wednesday and we had Thankgiving at my parent's house with my brothers and their families too. Was a long but fun day. I ate way too much. Ate a lightly full plate of food but at least half of it was veggies. I also ate a cupcake and a piece of apple strusel cheesecake. Overall it wasn't too bad, not good but it could have been so much worse.

I have developed a horrible addiction to pumpkin scones from Whole Foods. Hope that goes away soon. I've basicallly decided I just need to try to reduce the damage to minimal levels until after Christmas. I think things will be pretty tough for me until then.

Let me know how your Thanksgiving was and if you managed to maintain your new eating style.

HI Ezma,

YOu sound like you did WAY better than I did...I ate everything in much larger portions, PB'd (something I have RARELY done since I was banded) and went back again to the feeding trough. There was something seriously wrong with how my brain and stomach and band were acting...it wasn't my fault!!! (OK, I know it was, but it always feels better when you can blame someone/thing else!)

But back at the Y this morning (first time since last Tuesday), and back 'on the program'...let's see how long THIS lasts!

Glad to hear you had a family filled Thanksgiving, and hope that all is well.

I had a great thanksgiving. Although I had to work Wednesday through Sunday at the hospital, it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.

My family ate at 2pm, and I got there around 3:30pm after work. I had a small piece of turkey, a scoop of sweet potatos (taste like candy) and some Beans. I did eat a slice of pumpkin pie - but overall, not too bad.

It was funny thought, my big plate with a little bit of food on it. The whole family was looking at it, like, wtf?

I traveled to St. Louis to be with my sister and her family. The actual day of Thanksgiving went great. We started off running a 5K Turkey Trot which was awesome! Then we had a late dinner and I didn't feel like I overate. I enjoyed the different foods that we had, but didn't get uncomfortably full.

I was there for 9 days and in that time I ran 5K four times, did a 2.5 hour "Work out after you pig out" at the Y, also an aerobics class and a workout video a couple of times. I want to focus on that because I didn't do great on my eating for the last few days.

The worst night was my dd's b-day party. There were corn dogs, and breaded cheese sticks and funnel cakes, all home made. I felt like crap afterwards even though I didn't eat as much as I used to, it was still not the greatest choices.

I'm going to weigh in a couple of days to see what the damages are. My legs are swollen and I know my pounds are up. We'll see in a couple of days what happens.

I do feel good about the exercise. Now to keep it up!

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
