Laughed till I cried!

Recommended Posts

When was the last time you almost fell down from laughing? I had to call the Texas Laporoscopy Center today to dispute a billing error (long story). Anyway, they had to put me on hold and this "On-Hold Music" kicked in. They had some wedding singer record an original tune that almost had me wetting myself. I've called them 3 times now asking to be put on hold just so I could play this gem for people in the office. None of them have recovered yet and they've started calling it themselves just to hear it. I kid you not....for a good time call 409-719-0009 and tell them you wish to be put on hold because you need to hear the inspiring on-hold music. If you don't trust me, you can point your browser to http://www.felixspiegelmd.com and click on Contact Us, compare the phone numbers, and you'll know I'm not setting you up!

After you hear it, imagine being left on hold for 1/2 hour having to hear this over 60 times in a row! Now I'm craving cheese and corn both at the same time!

I'm always in for some fun, but nobody is answering the line... I'll try again tomorrow.

But since you asked, I'm still laughing my ass off at something that happened yesterday.

Last week, I sent a girlfriend (no names) a gag gift.. a grown-up "toy" if you will. Yesterday the United States Post Office left a message on my answering machine stating they are holding a VIBRATING PACKAGE. I laughed so hard that I started sobbing at my desk, because I had to call the post office in order for them to deliver the parcel. Make a note: The US Post Office must either verify the contents of "vibrating parcels" or they are forced to open them.

Delarla,

You were supposed to turn it off after use.....and what a cheap skate you are giving a used gift to a friend! This was funny, bet you had a real chuckle when they hung up.

Do try the number again tomorrow, this is the best laugh I've had in months.

I will try an remember to call again tomorrow. I waited and got transferred to the operator but no hold music played before it started ringing. I can just see them getting all these calls tomorrow from people just asking to be put on hold........oh well, a little fun never hurt anyone.

I took my daughter to an audition in NYC, when we got there my bag was vibrating and humming, everyone in the waiting room was staring at me like I was some kind of freak, it was her battery operated toothbrush, I was laughing so hard!!! Every one in the waiting area probably thought I had a "toy" in the bag, but somehow her toothbrush got activated.

You learn something new every day: When you buy one of these "toys" the store, by law, has to open the package and insert the batteries to make sure the item works since, thank God they aren't returnable! Then they turn it off and cram it back in the package. It's not like I wanted to touch the thing, it was embarrassing enough.

YES, I had to call the very serious postal worker and tell him the contents. He tried to remain serious but I heard his coffee snort out of his nose as he tried to muffle his laugh. Poor guy.

Just when I didn't think this could get any funnier, I discovered that TLC now has a TV commercial....with the same freakin on-hold music. You've got to call that number 409-719-0009 between 9:00AM and 5:00PM Central time to ask to be put on hold. Thank God the service they perform is so much more professional then their commercial production.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
