I am so over this menstrual bleeding, I can't even tell you. I'm ruining clothes despite ALL of the measures I take to stay protected: I soak through tampons AND pads. I've been on the pill for almost 2 weeks now (my doctor's decision to stop the flow, obviously not working), and I'm STILL bleeding. I understand that I've lost a lot of weight in a relatively short amount of time, but enough is enough!

I am a tad afraid of an endometrial ablation because of the permanency. Have you had a D & C? Did it hurt? Did it stop your bleeding?

I'm seriously going insane right now. Advice?

I was the same way. I was sick of being anemic and not being able to go out for a week of the month. I was scheduled in 2000 to have a surgery and -i consulted with gyno to takee out my uterous at the same time of my surgery. I was 24 and only had one child but I knew I would be ok to adopt. It ended up I had lost too much blood or just being anemic they could not do the hysterectomy at that time. I went on to adopt and after adopting I got pg. I have always been very heavy since 2000 sometimes worse than others. In spring of 2007 I nearly passed out from losing too much blood. I rand to the gyno and decided on uterine ablation. Mu mom had the freezing of the uterine ablation and it did not work for her. So I knew that is not what I wanted. I got the nova sure procedure. It has worked wonderfully for me. After a year, I had it - believe oct 2007 I love it. I have about 2 days heavy flow (which is prob a normal persons heavy day but so lioght compared to my used to heavy) and then one to two days of spotting. I still wear a liner for 5-6 days thinking I will have breakthrough but I don't. It is from me being traumatized from before that I keep wearing the liner. I would recommend it. Best thing I did. I wished I had done it sooner and did not kick my butt sooner in doing it.

I had the ablation and am so glad that I did. For me, it worked like a charm. It was absoulutly painless. Now I don't have to wear anything more than a thin pad for maybe 1-3 days. I am not able to use tampons anymore because I don't bleed enough, but that is definately not a problem compared to before. I would bleed so bad that I couldn't stand up for the first couple days of my period. I had to lay in bed with my feet up. I lost my weight and my period in the same year. Life doesn't get much better than that!

I had two D&C's in 2007. The first was in April, after heavy bleeding almost constantly for months. The bleeding stopped for four months, then in August started again and was worse than ever. In October I was supposed to have a tubal ligation and Novasure, but during the procedure I stopped breathing and they had to stop before doing anything. Finally, in December, I had another D&C, which revealed a massive uterine infection. I was on antibiotics and progesterone for a month, which finally relieved the problem.

Do they know why you stopped breathing?

Do they know why you stopped breathing?

I had quite a bit of testing, including a full cardiac workup, and the best conclusion they could come to was that it was due to my weight. When the doctor was trying to do the tubal ligation, he had to put my head lower than my feet and that is when i stopped breathing. That event is also what prompted me to look into the Lap Band.

My periods were worse after I had a d&c. I finally had a thermal ablation about 6 years ago. It worked until I had my tubes tied. Now they are back to the same as they were. I was told by the doctor that being under 35 at the time of the procedure could mean I would need another one. I think it is time. I hope that whatever you decide to do helps.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
