I had lapband on friday November 14, 2008. I am down about 10 lbs. Emma Patterson was my surgeon at Southwest Medical in Vancouver Washington.

Is it normal to not lose much at first? And how many of you stayed on liquids for two weeks, I was told two weeks liquids, two weeks pureed and then soft food. What is you experience?

Thanks not sure what to expect.

Hi. Congratulations on being banded. How are you feeling?? I think it is normal not to lose for awhile after your surgery... or even to gain at first. It will come off and you will be surprised at how much you will lose. My post-op diet was 1 week of Clear Liquids, 1 week of liquids (soups, etc.), 1 week of soft foods/mushies, and then week 4 I moved onto solid foods. I think I was so happy to have the pre-op diet over that I didn't think about the post-op eating until I was there. It sure seemed like a long time until I got to eat something "real". I just kept thinking that my body and my band site needed to heal, so I ate what I was supposed to. I didn't want to do anything that would slow down that process. Keep up the good work!! It won't be long until you are chewing again. Take good care of yourself!!! Becky

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
