Help! What can I buy My Doctor for Christmas?

Recommended Posts

Since today was my last of the pre-op diet, I think I'll wrap up my leftover Optifast and give to my surgeon. Let HIM drink that stuff.

Good idea. Optifast sucks, doesn't it.

Good luck with your surgery.

Y'all,

Can someone help me pick out a tasteful and affordable giveadamn? Prior to surgery, he was my buddy and answered all questions. As long as the weight was coming off he was all smiles. Whenever I plateau, he's really not interested in fills or problems. I don't need anything fancy, just a good solid giveadamn in a mediuam or large would do fine.

Most people drink starbucks. Maybe a $15-20 starbucks giftcard...? Get one of those edible arrangements for his office. There are also those giftcards that are like Visas that you can use anywhere. Most people like to rent movies...Blockbuster card? Ummm...I'm not sure if I would do wine...ummm...maybe a nice pen set or a personalized money clip? Just a few things that I might get a man for a gift...? Good luck!!!

lol I'm sorry, but the Christmas gift my surgeon got was the $16,000 plus that I spent for my surgery...lmao. I can't afford any Christmas gifts for anyone besides my son this year B) If you do what to get them something I would go with wine or a starbucks gift card or something...I don't think they're expecting a gift...maybe ever a Xmas card with a before surgery and a current pic of you with a nice thank you...

I feel you on this subject. My thinking exactly because if I give my Surgeon a gift then I guess I would have to give my Doctor, my son's Doctor, my Dentist, and let's not forget my Lawyer. LOL :cursing:

mine will get a holiday greeting card like he and his staff did last yr. i was cash pay, times 2 with hubby being banded as well. they're is very little "want" or "need" on his part i would imagine.

i also don't list my dr in my signature line for the same reason - he doesn't need my advertising ... he does all too well on his own.

a nice card to acknowledge them is really all they need & want from my view point.

But if you really feel like being nice then I would get something that him and his staff would enjoy. I agree with another poster... don't make it so personal. I work in a medical clinic. What we would receive from other offices was a canister of popcorn. We have a well known place that sells great tasting popcorn in different flavors. The canister of choice would be decorated in a Holiday theme and filled with cinnamon, cheese, carmel, or plain popcorn in dividers. Yummy the best. So if you're in a giving mood make sure it's a present that everyone can enjoy at his practice. :cursing:

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
