Anyone getting banded in January

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I am getting banded in Germany and they have been a bit vague about the pre-op diet. Could someone give some examples of what hey have to do? My date is Jan. 8, so I think I should start right after Christmas. I am starting to feel a little anxious and excited. Not scared! I am ready.

Hi Maureen,

My pre-op diet is about 30 days. It changes a little day to day but the main idea is 3 shakes a day + 2 very small meals.

The shakes are 190 calories and 14 grams of Protein.< /p>

The meals consist of 3oz of meat and 1 serving or either veg or fruit.< /p>

The 24 hours before banding I am to have only Clear Liquids.< /p>

While my pre-op is much more merciful than some, it is longer than most.

The key, I believe, is to shrink the liver, and I've read that a low carb/high protien VLC, very low calorie, diet will do that.

During the operation they will need to lift the liver to make the tunnel in which our bands will fit.

I know the pre-op depends greatly on the doctor.

Hope this helps.

Hi Peanutband,

I'm scheduled for Jauary 19th. I'm on the diet before the pre-op diet, but I have to add in exercise now. Any tips on how others have gotten through this successfully would be great to hear. Best Wishes for you on your Sx day and for a speedy recovery!:tongue2:

Hey JuJi, I have been hearing from others about there pre-op diet plans and they are using 2 to 3 Protein shake with one low carb dinner. Myself will it is only for days of liquids only.

I am in need of some support right now. I am getting really close to my date which is the 8th of January and I am thinking of backing out. My family and DH is telling me I can do this but if I can't get started on a sample diet for after Christmas, how am I going to do this diet with the lapband. Any help will be greatful.

Just to tell you all that I have not had any soda's in three months and I don't drink from a straw anymore neither. I have been drinking at least 64 oz. of Water and 40 grams of Protein. I have been trying to exercise at least 3 days a week. I just can't stop on the eating.

Hello Peanutband! I am a brand new member and will be banded on January 19th. I am both excited and alittle scared! I was wondering if anyone else has used appetite sup. in order to make it through the pre-op liquid diet phase? How much hunger after the band to you experience? Are you excercising to move the weight loss along faster? Thanks for your help! Cara in KC:w00t:

jec1 - Thanks! you and my dh both said the same thing. I can do this, just hang in there. Tomorrow is a new day and I am going to get back on track.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
