Excited is not even the right word for what I am feeling. I am so looking forward to not being a prisoner of my weight anymore. Life will begin again for me when the weight starts coming off.

We'll get a January Bandster group going and we'll all stay in touch. I am sure we aren't the only ones.

I hope we aren't and you are right. We got to get this group going. I too am also looking at "FREEDOM" from this old body as well. Do you realize that January is only about 30 days away.

It is just around the corner. I have already been looking over my pre-op diet and getting ready to do some shopping.

I also cleaned out the fridge today. I'll finish that up in the next week or two. I'm just throwing out stuff that I know I don't need to be eating. It's a start and makes me feel like I'm doing something now instead of waiting. My pre-op diet starts on December 20th. I have four weeks to do. I am not looking forward to that but it will all be good in the end.

Wow! There is more out there for the month of January....I am markiing the calendar off day by day. I also cleaned out the fridge and the cabinets. I just hope I can get by the Holidays without gaining anymore weight. It is going to be very hard. Setting around waiting is the hardest thing for me to do.

Hi January bandsters !!! I'm scheduled for January 30th. I'm finishing up the 3 month pre-op work required by the insurance company. The surgeon can file for final approval in January.....keeping my fingers crossed all goes well with the approval. Still 8 weeks away, but the holidays should make the time fly by.

Hi January Bandsters,

I have my appt. with the surgeon this coming Thursday to set a date in January. I am getting so excited but nervous too! Do any of you use a CPAP machine? I saw on another post that her doctor told her NOT to use the machine as it puts gas into the stomach! I have obstructive sleep apnea and NEED the machine for now, until I get some weight off first! My husband is happy for me and my son (34) is scared for me, afraid something is going to happen, YES IT WILL, MY WEIGHT IS COMING OFF! Good Luck to all of you. I have already had Phys. eval, nutrition, support group meetings, lab work, which was low on Vit D, taking pills for that. Can't wait...........Jan

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
