Anyone banded on Staten Island?

Recommended Posts

Hi Treesa,

I was not able to send a private message. I do not known how to do it.

It was good to meet you. That was a good meeting! What do you think. Are you still going to get banded?

Hi,

Good to see more people from SI on this site. How are you doing post op? Good I hope! I was banded in Nov. 08, so if you have any question, just ask. Talk to you later, Barb

Hi Barb - I am feeling good but starting to get bored of the broth, Decaf tea, Protein drinks & Jello. I won't moan about it through. I've already lost 17lbs and that makes it all worth it.

I will def be in touch if questions come up. Thanks for the offer.

SIUH has a very good support group and they will be meeting 1/7 at 6pm. As for the boring food, look at it this way, you are 1 week down. I known I just wanted to get through those first 6 weeks after banding. Now, I am eatting normal foods but in alot smaller portion. Keep up the good work, Barb

Hi

I was banded 3 years ago. SIUH Dr Nicastro & McMullen. I lost 90 pounds. When I complained about acid reflux, they took the Fluid out. I put on 25 lbs. They are slowly adjusting me, but are only putting 1.8 back. I was at 2.5 cc. Very discouraging. It is not working like it did. :bored:

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
