I had lapband done on nov 24 monday and for some reason my calf muscles are tight and sore like i walked a hundred miles get this be the gas everybody talks about in your system after surgery

You won't have gas pain in your calves. Please call your doc and describe the pain....(I know it's a holiday but call his number). Pain in the calves CAN be a sign of clots. Usually it's just one leg, one area, and goes away depending on how you flex your foot etc but I don't have the expertise to help you diagnose it via email.

It's 99% likely that your electrolytes are a little out of whack post op but because of that 1% chance, it's best to be safe. No medical professional will fault you for asking about pain in your legs, especially when you are a bariatric patient post op! Call right away, just to ease MY mind! :grouphug:

OMG! Me too. It just started when I went back to work. I took two weeks off from work starting on 11/11/08, which is the day I was banded.

I went back to work on 11/24/08 and that night I woke up with cramps in my calves. I saw the doctor yesterday and was told to really watch my Fluid intake.

I fwfeel it when I walk. I am only 3 days out. It feels like I started a new exercise program. Very sore calf muscles. I have been drinking loads of Water. It only hurts when I walk.

Thanks for your input i have been drinking more Water and my calfs are getting a lot better maybe i did not have enough water

I agree with the comments on drinking plenty of Water. Dehydration affects many people this way and this is the most likely cause . . . and it can be very hard to get the fluids in during the early days of banding. Vitamin and Protein intake at the right levels will also help you to feel better during the early days of banding.

Restlessmonkey also has a point of watching out for bloodclots. They can be very, very serious and you want to make sure that any significant pain that is more than muscle soreness is reported immediately to your doctor.

Walking is another part of a fast recovery, it also one of the easiest and most effective ways to help reduce the risk of blood clots. There is nothing that helps you to feel better and more energetic faster than to get up and get moving.
