Gall bladder issues

Recommended Posts

Hi fellow bandsters,

I was wondering if any one else has had any trouble with gallstones, my MD told me that I am not alone, and that alot of people who loos weight rapidly have gallstones, his 1st choice is to operate, I have refused thus far, I had a hida scan today which showed that I not only have a totally non functioning gallbladder, but also Gastroparesis..food is not being moved through the stomach in the normal pace..in fact to slow, get this I have not had a fill in 6 Mos, so my band can't be too tight, has anyone else been diagnosed with gallstones or gastroparesis?

I had to have my gall bladder removed 5 mos after LB surg because of the rapid weight loss. One night I was bathing my 1 yr old and I thought I was having a heart attack I laid on the floor moaning it was the most painful thing I have EVER felt-childbirth was a piece of cake compared to this pain. Well after like 2 hrs I literally passed out from the pain and when I woke up it was gone. Then a few weeks later it happened again and again until the Dr figured it out and I had it removed. Not a big deal went home a few hours later. I am so glad I will never feel that pain again! But the dr said the pain radiated into my chest area so thats why I felt like I was having a very slow and painful heart attack.

I experienced a similar episode of severe abdominal pain about 2 wks after being banded. At that point, I had lost about 20 plus lbs. I had 2 attacks where I thought that I would die. I had an ultrasound which showed that my gallbladder was fine, no stones etc... My MD said that the stone(S) may have passed on their own. I have not had any issues since then but I am sure it was due to the gallbladder and quick weight loss.

It definately is an unforgettable pain.

Hello fellow bandsters. I have to have my gallbladder removed...:) I have already had a severe gallbladder attack and much gallbladder pain since. I now have to have it removed next Wednesday. Fortunately, my lapband surgeon will also be doing this surgery. I am sad about it though...I feel that my healthy choice to lose weight had gotten me back into the operating room, and right before the holidays...again...

How do you know if it is your Gall Bladder and not like say ...a stomach ulcer....I have had severe stomach pains now for a while but I really can't afford to go to a specialist to get it checked out.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
