Laura-I had the same problem with macy. Thank God for Mylecon drops. Sometimes even that did not help. She would just scream! Poor baby! And you are better off with him not taking the pacifier. Weaning from that is no fun!

Yeah we started with the Mylicon, I still use it occasionally; but it normally doesn't do much.. that's why I swear by the Colic Calm, it helps within 2 minutes, he turns into a new baby.. all happy and pain free.

From what I read it's only the first 13 weeks when they typically have digestion problems because their digestive system is still figuring out how to work.. fingers crossed, I hate those pain cries

Despite lack of eating and no sodas (that's hard, I got back into them during pregnancy!!), my scale isn't moving. Argh. I am trying not to check, but I keep checking anyway cause I figure "It's gotta change today". I keep bouncing between 253-256

I think I need more fill, they want me back in a month so I'll go ahead and go and get another fill. Bummer.

Oh and rice cereal--my mom is like anti-everything I tell her in the books because it contradicts everything she ever did, and she's always right of course. She keeps saying since he's so hungry, give him some rice Cereal in the bottle to help him sleep through the night. The 'books' say wait till 6 months and never put it in the bottle. She keeps bringing it up, and everyone who had kids a while ago agree with her. My peds are non-conventional, and we go back June 16, so I'll ask them then what they think.

But meanwhile, she keeps rolling her eyes that I don't do it.

But you know what I read????? It said they did a study and it showed babies fed rice cereal before 6 months, it messes up their ability to tell when they are 'full' because of the empty carbs in rice cereal. So, it said there's a link between feeding rice cereal and messing up the 'full' receptors and adult obesity. HMMMMM.

Hmmm, that is so interesting Laura...

Pammy - just heard about Prop 8. So sad...

Jane - yes, there was traffic coming into town from New Braunfels... It sucked! We were at a snails pace for about 80 miles...

Hello everyone!!!

Mae, congrats on the 100 pounds :0). That is quite an accomplishment.

Laura, thanks for the advice. My son had a bad case of colic so I don't know if it is likely that this baby will too. I will have to give it a try if I run into the same issue.

Pamela, you are officially gradumacated and you still have to respond to editors comments on your dissertation? I thought you were finally free and clear and able to relax.

Jane, it is ridiculous what dealers offer for a persons car, any car. It almost seems like a bit of an insult. You can always sell it on eBay or in the paper as long as you figure out a good asking price and then your willing to sell price and negotiate somewhere in between.

Terry, I hope things are going to get much better with Evan and it is only a matter of time to get there.

Kat, When I am tight I can't eat watermelon either (maybe a very small cube or two nestled in between bites of something else will work). However, this makes no sense to me at all. It seems like the consistency of watermelon should make it one of the easiest things to get through the pouch.

Hello to everyone else and I hope you have had a lovely labor day weekend.

I have had company at my house since Friday and they just left about 2 hours before. It was so nice to have family visiting . . . but I now need a holiday from my holiday. It is just hard work with Breakfast, lunch, dinner, excursions, huge get together at my house for memorial day and all with the deep tiredness of late pregnancy.

I am getting a little tired of being pregnant, lol. This weekend just about did me in. I feel like hibernating for at least a week now. The pot of gold at the end of the rainbow is maternity leave . . . I should be able to get a little rest and relaxation then, right???

Laura, my mother also insisted when my son was small that he start a little cereal early. It was a mistake in his case. The gas and other issues just got worse. I tried it and he told me (through being miserable and uncomfortable) that he wasnt ready. I don't think he was ready until a little before five months in age. If you do decide to try it, just go really slow.

It is interesting what you said about early cereal feeding messing up our feeling full receptors. If my full receptors were working correctly, I am pretty sure I wouldn't have needed a band. It would be really interesting to know if early feeding habits have affected me and all my siblings in this fashion.

As far as my son is concerned, I tried the rice for a day or two, saw it was making everything worse, and backed off immediately and then waited until about 5 months before trying again. His feeling full receptors seem to work fine and he is tall and lanky.

Heather~ It has been at the editor for nearly 4 weeks, but she has been busy. I will have some minor fixes, especially on some references, etc. SHE fixes most of it...that is why I am paying her nearly 2k to edit the diss. I need to verify references, etc.

Yea, the prop 8 thing is sad, well for us anyway. I am sure many people feel differently about it...but when you are in the fight, it is sad. At least many of our friends unions are still ok. What I do know is it is not over...yet!

Heather, when is mat. leave? When is the baby due exactly? I am sure you told us, but I don't remember.

Can't wait to see Carson! Just to kiss and smell the baby...aaahhh!

Pam, someday it will pass and hopefully it will be soon. Nothing like a good fight.

I thought the prop 8 thing was weird. For them to allow the current unions but not new ones. What kind of message is that??? Either you're for it or you're against it. I think it should be allowed, but I don't understand saying 'these are ok.. but no more'. That doesn't make any sense.

That's the other thing I read Heather about waiting till 6 months. It says they can't digest it properly and causes more digestion problems; my mom rolled her eyes when I told her that and then says things like "You'll learn".

But the obesity thing really gave me pause, what if that's what went wrong!

Oh they also say it increases chances of food allergies.. Carson is already high risk since Russ is allergic to stuff.

I think it is great that someone can go through to edit and verify your references and everything for you. I know when i am editing my own papers, I have to take time away or I can't catch my own mistakes sometimes. It is almost as if familiarity breeds a level of blindness, at least for me.

I am due in 2 weeks on June 9th. I think it will happen before that . . . but I am pretty sure that every pregnant women I have ever met thinks (or hopes) they are going to go just a little early, lol.

My maternity leave can start at any time but I don't want to start too early because I get full pay for 5 weeks and half pay thereafter. I feel like I should drag my but to work while I still feel good enough to do so, lol.

Laura-I did go ahead and give macy rice cereal and it helped tremendously. She is a chubby kid but I doubt that has anything to do with it. Many kids that had cereal are skinny....who knows. But macy slept all night on her full belly

Hey girlies...

SO so so busy but keeping my eye on the prize this Friday!!!

Laura, forgive me if this has already been suggested or discussed (yeah, I admit to skimming just now!)... what about Soy formula? I used it w/DD because of gastro, etc., issues and it helped... just a thought...

I went to the mall & shopped for ME today -- & was sorta successful. Mostly I just realized that I am still so FAT!! I can't dwell on that now... I told myself that when I get back from Cali. I need to actually START OVER as if this is my starting weight. So I've got that going for me -- ha ha!

Off to DS's concert band concert... enjoy your eves!

Home from a hectic day---as usual!!

Dr.'s son is going to be ok, the man he was with is still in ICU, with internal injuries, and crushed hand, wrist etc. Actually had to reattach 3 fingers, they were so badly mangled. Apparantly the car had a blow out, and he hit the brakes hard, and the car rolled 5 times or so. So I figure the mans hand went out a broken window and the car rolled over it is how it was so injured. Not a single air bag deployed! It was a rental, and was supposedly equipped with front end as well as curtain air bags. But none worked, and this was a crash at over 60 mph, before he braked. It was a Chevy Impala rented from Enterprise.

Got my work done, did some filing, and tried to authorize ahead as many appts. as I could. Then come on home, was going to mow the back yard, but it began raining.

Got word that my neighbor is not going to make it through his cancer. It began in the throat, is now throughout his head, in his sinus, ears, down the esophagus, and invaded the intestinal tract. They are going to try a few rounds of chemo to see if he responds at all, but it is inoperable, and his odds are less than 5%. He is already down to 105 pounds! He cannot swallow anything, and the feeding tube is irritating the stomach, so they are unsure what the next step is right now. I feel so bad for them, just don't know what to do.

Laura, that is interesting in relation to the cereal. And if he continues with distress, I agree, I would try a soy base. Manda was soy fed due to problems with her tummy. My Mom said she ended up feeding my brother cereal in his bottle from a month on----and he is 6'3" and 155 pounds!!! I would love his weight on my height!!! LOL I was older, but never had weight problems, til I messed with my own metabolism, recognizing the full signals was never an issue with me----if I pay attention it still isn't. I just tend to bully it like everything else, and push!!

My SIL is back and forth to the hospital, she was in ER for being unable to breath, and they diagnosed her with plueresy (SP?) Worries me, as she does have a history of DVT--but supposedly they Xrayed and ruled out pulmonary embolism, no clots in the lungs. Sent her home.....told her this is all result of starvation. My MIL is telling EVERYONE that her problems are ALL because of the band, and that she has not ate in 3 years! Makes me want to scream!!! How has she gained weight, with not eating in 3 years????? And if you have to stick your finger down your throat, that is not a natural PB, it is being forced. I am so scared she is not going to be honest and get the help she needs. Rick and I had a talk about how involved to get, and he tried to talk to his mom but she just got REALLY pissy with him, so he backed off.

Right now, my SIL is very excited about an upcoming party for their anniversary, so hoping that gives her incentive to do right by herself, and she can pull through this. Scary as hell tho!

Well I have chicken out to cook, I better get on it.

Got word today our retainer fee is going to be $7500.00 if it requires court appearances. Ay-yi-yi...........

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
