Drive by posting/baby news...

Pitocin started at 6 a.m. Nothing happening yet.. contractions actually slowing down the more pitocin they give. WTH?? They are doing contortions right now to try and move the baby from sunny side up to face down to make it an easier delivery.

The Bobster and I left and went to the jewelry store to get Kris a Pandora Bracelet with a baby charm and a purple stone charm. Then home for a little lunch (pumpkin, sausage soup.. awesome!!) and then to Subway to pick up a sandwich for Nathan. Back to the hospital to wait and wait some more.

Will check in via text or in here.

Judy- I put my .2 worth on Pitocin in an email back to you guys (I've never heard a story where it worked).

Just got back from obgyn.. wah.. I gained 8lbs in 2 weeks?! WTF?!?!??!?!?!?!?!?!?! She thinks I was weighed wrong last time, and that's why it's such a big leap.. but I weigh myself at home too, it's no big leap, 2 weeks ago my weight was correct :)

But I haven't been bad enough to gain 8lbs in 2 weeks!!!

She measured Carson and said he's 35cm, and she said that makes him a big baby because he's 2 weeks ahead of schedule on size... dang.

I did ask her about what the nurse told me about 90% babies at our hospital being induced at 38 weeks. She said the lady was wrong, that she doesn't know the % but it's at 39 weeks.. 38 weeks is too early and they'd be getting in trouble if that was the case.

She said she leaves it up to me if I want to be induced for convenience: knowing when it's going to happen, letting people come into town, knowing my doc will be there, etc.

She also gave me the referral for the physical therapist tomorrow. I hope he can help me.

The 3rd is a wonderful day to be born--this is Connors 3rd birthday----he is 3 on the 3rd, isn't that supposed to be special in the Asian culture?? Your age and birthdate matching I mean???

He was born 3/3/06-----so I remember it easy 3+3=06!! Grady/Madison will be 3X3+09!!

Still sick as a dog---------need to feed Kinsey, so will be back later.

Hugs all---------will keep you as posted as I can as far as me in Alabama--I want to more that I can convey, but without a job.......so fingers are crossed for the job to hang in there!!

BBL~~

Terry, I'm not opposed to Pitocin--odds are I'll have to use it too from the abundance of people being induced these days.. and that may be naive of me, my mom was induced with my brother and she said it made labor much more painful and then didn't work (2 of hers were natural though, no epidural). But anyway, I'm not scared to do Pitocin or whatever, I'm just not impressed with the track record. LJM & my RL friend who had her baby when we were in Gruene.. both had Pitocin and both ended up with a C-section after all their efforts!

Carson is very movey today.. keeps shifting around.

I heard on the news that today's "Square Root" day... 3/3/09... get it? The next one will be 4/4/16, etc... It happens I think they said 9 times a century?? (I'm not so good w/the math, so I won't swear to that...)

Drank a coffee & now it feels like it's burning a hole in my tummy... ow... + sinus pain.... wah wah... poor poor pitiful me... & ds, too... we're both pounding the "Extreme Sinus Pain" tylenols!! I think I'm going to go sneak a little nap... I've got dinner (ribs) slow-cooking in the oven... I'm so sneaky!!

Laura... what's your actual "due" date??

Getting ready to head into work. I'm so glad I took the muscle relaxer last night. I'm able to walk today because of it. My hips are killing me but it's still ok.

Can't hardly wait for baby news.

TracyKS. Have fun in Fla. and enjoy the wedding. Safe trip to you.

Hello Everyone, I can't wait to hear Kris's baby news. My husband wanted to wait until the baby was born to find out the sex . . . but that is just impossible for me when I have an option to find out early.

Laura, your pic's from the shower were great . . . it looked like a lot of fun. The cake was really cute.

Second drive by baby posting...

We're home for an hour to take care of dogs, then will be going back and staying until the baby is born.

Laura.. the Pitocin worked fine.. too fine. She was having triple contractions and decided it was time for the epidural. DO NOT pass that up!! She went from crying during the heavy contractions, to being extremely comfortable and able to relax. They cut back on the pitocin and will increase it if the contractions don't continue to accelerate. She's still at 3 cm, 90% effaced. It's just waiting and waiting now!

I'll text or post after the baby comes. No more drive by postings.. lol

Laura-I 2nd what Judy said about not passing up the epidural! The dr didn't get me in the right spot the first time and about 3 hours later (luckily it wasn't too late) the nurse was like "ummm, I don't think your epidural is working". I guess the moans & groans gave it away. The dr had to come back & do it over again...whew.. what a difference!

Laura just called and let me know it was a boy too!!!

She said Grady weighed in at 10 pounds and was 22" Long, so a C section was necessary. She said Judy said all was well!!!

Congrats to all us new Aunties, and especially to the new Grammy and family. Enjoy the not so little guy!!

Hugs!

Kat

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
