Vangirl 0 Posted November 27, 2008 Hello fellow Canadian bandsters. I was banded today. Will give a much more detailed description of everything when I'm feeling more up to it. I'm not gonna lie, there is pain! A lot of it. Both from the incisions as well as the gas I've heard so much about. Been trying to stay up and walk around as much as I can. There's nothing I'd love more right now than to go lie down and sleep it off, but I'm forcing myself to be up and about, walking, etc. I'm typing with one hand as the iv port is in my left. Anyway just wanted to say a quick thank you to everyone for sending me their good wishes. Will write more and respond to my private messages later
canadagirl33 0 Posted November 27, 2008 Congrats and welcome to the land of the Banded !!! :grouphug: I'm so glad the hear that it went well and that you are up and moving around. I know exactly what you mean when you say you want lay down and sleep, I wanted to do the same !!! Hard to believe right now but walking and moving as much as you can will help in the long run !!! I found that the incisional pain got considerably better every ady...as long as I wasn't twisting or pulling on them. The gas pain isn't easy and I found the best things were walking regularly and a heating pad on my upper back and chest when I was resting. Just remember that you're going to have a few tough days but it WILL get better !!! Post when you can and keep us informed.... Get some rest and be gentle with yourself. All the best to you !!!! Vangirl 0 Posted November 28, 2008 I admit I am surprised at the amount of pain I'm still feeling, but I'm trying to remind myself everyone is different. The nurse yesterday brought me a hot Water bottle that really helped with the shoulder pain I was having. I'm at the hotel now, and will be travelling back home tomorrow. I'm wondering about the paranoia though. I had a half-bowl of broth for dinner and then drank a glass of Water shortly afterward, and boy am I paying for it! It hurts, and the pressure hasn't gone away for almost an hour now. So I start to have thoughts of am I stretching/wrecking the band from drinking too much liquid after the surgery. I just hope it's me being all paranoid and everything, that this is a normal thing to happen as I get used to the band, and used to the new me, with a new stomach and new way of eating/drinking. I'm really looking forward to this pain going away and feeling like my normal self again.

katrinalud 0 Posted November 29, 2008 Congratulations! Did woodhead do your surgery? Guess I was lucky had not pain and no gas issues. Did you have to stay in the hospital?
inuit 0 Posted November 29, 2008 Where did you have your band surgery? Canada or Mexico?
Vangirl 0 Posted November 30, 2008 I had my surgery with Dr. Ortiz at the OCC in Tijuana, Mexico. I stayed one night in the clinic, and the next night at the hotel, and flew home the following day. No problems with travelling. I had a four-hour wait in San Diego airport, which gave me plenty of opportunity to walk around. Great experience overall, I'd recommend OCC to anyone. I plan to post a long blog or entry about the whole thing so people know what it was like. Today's pain sucks though, worse than yesterday. Although today I didn't take any painkillers, and haven't walked much so maybe that's the reason. I hurt all over!
katrinalud 0 Posted November 30, 2008 Hello I had mine in BC - Vancouver, which is about 500 miles from here.
canadagirl33 0 Posted December 1, 2008 Ok....wait just a second !!! I know I had a late night at work last night and am lacking sleep but is it just me or does everyones computer show that our Vangirl had morphed into kygirl31 !!??!!?? Think we have a LBT glitch !!!! Cujo 0 Posted December 1, 2008 funny, there is a computer at the nurses station at OCC. If multiple lapbandtalkers log in, the forum merges their accounts as only one user per computer is allowed. I suspect our friend from kentucky used the same computer as vangirl That why I had to start over too.
Vangirl 0 Posted December 1, 2008 Yeah I just noticed that too. This is really weird. I'm not even able to login with my old login and password. It says it's invalid.

And btw....I hope your feeling some better today Vangirl !!! Keep walking and keep that hot Water bottle close !!! Patricia I'm feeling much better day 5 compared to day 4. And somehow miraculously I'm able to drink a whole lot more liquid than I could before, although this has corresponded with significantly increased hunger and reactivity to food around me. I'm missing the honeymoon of not being hungry, but glad I'm able to get more Water down, as I was worried about getting dehydrated.
Vangirl 0 Posted December 1, 2008 I got my login back, but I think I inherited kygirl31's account and posts.
