Just signed your guestbook! You did a great job, and I am envious, because I want to learn how to do it, too...I can see you took a lot of time with it. I like the black background and the bright colors!

Good job! Cindy

Kellie,

Your content is great. I build websites as part of the array of services my private business offers (see http://www.motortrike.com as an example of one of the sites I've built). I feel I've been educated by the best when it comes to building sites that come alive and truly convey a message. My only suggestion would be to "lose" the black background. Choose plain white or a light colored neutral color with black text (except for when you need emphasis, but only do that sparingly). Here is why, if you wanted to print the page, some browsers would print the black background as well, practically emptying ink and toner cartridges in doing so.

I use a set of design guidelines that have worked extremely well and have won us a few web design awards.

Check out the guidelines at:

http://www.itc.virginia.edu/desktop/web/webdesign.html

I applaud your effort in sitting down to learn to do this, its fun and the site you are building will be of immense help to others like us (not to mention the fact that it is a great testimonial to your having lost as much weight as you have). My point in offering the advice is to save you the time I wasted in trying to perfect my skills. Please don't be put off or discouraged by my suggestions, it was by no means meant as criticism.

I build websites freelance. I used to work for a company downtown and did thousands of pages - mostly converting content - (back in the day when you did it manually).

Now I just freelance for companies, and I only have four contracts at this time. It's perfect, and it works with my other job wonderfully.

This will be a real learning experience.

Attending the big seminars is an amazing experience - and if you really are interested in learning - it might be fun to attend some.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
