Helllloo out there!

My name is Kelli!

Im trying to get banded through my insurance, but my BMI is a 33, and they say thats too low. I need help on trying to convince them that this is the right thing for me to do. My dad's side of the family has a history of obesity, and I have gained so much weight, I just know that within the next year, I am going to gain another 50 pounds.. or at least I feel that way. I just feel so ugly. Has anyone else been in the same postion as me, and have you been able to convince your doctors??? I have my sleep study Sunday.. Wish me luck and if you have annnnnnnnny advice at all please contact me!!!

THANKS!

:)

How is your blood pressure and cholesterol? Diabetic? These are a few health problems that the insurance will make exceptions for if the bmi is not what they consider "high enough". Good luck on your sleep study, I did not have to have one of those done so I have no idea what it will be like. I was banded, however, last thursday (its been 5 days) and I have already lost 14 pounds. As my weight had crept up to its max, I had begun to have problems with my hands falling asleep and breathing difference. Both are already gone now. It has been an exicting few days to say the least. Best of luck.

Did you have pain in your shoulder of gas pain in your abdomen?

I didn't, and I had my surgery last Friday.

I would at times get a gas bubble in my "bread basket," the fleshy area under the rib cage, but that would pass quickly if I moved. But I was fortunate that I never got the shoulder gas.

You are so lucky! My shoulder pain has finally subsided a bit 6 days post banding. It seems to be connected to swelling in the belly. As it goes down so does the pain.

The shoulder pain is pretty much gone, but I am still achy in my upper back...getting better. As far as pain, the worst pain is where they placed the port, so trying to turn when I am sleeping wakes me up with sharp pain (almost a tearing feeling) but the doctor said that is normal and can sometimes stay for up to a couple of months. All of the pain has been so worth it...18 lbs now...and its only been 10 days today! Best of luck to everyone!!!! :cursing:

Day 6 and every day is a bit better. Isn't it amazing how food intake has to change? I mean 2 bites or a small glass of juice and that's it. Thanks for sharing your experiences!! Good luck to you and congratulations on your progress so far:thumbup:
