Hello,

Does anyone know if latex allergies could cause a problem for the lap band procedure? Thanks for your responses.

Most every OR that I've ever been around has gone latex-free, just to avoid those complications. However, you should say loud and say often that you have a latex allergy, to avoid any potential latex contact between you and non-OR folks.

As far as I know there's no latex in the band. Just make sure any time they ask if you have an allergy you say "YES ... LATEX" and you'll be fine!

I have a latex allergy and I haven't had any problems with the band or the surgery. You should be fine.

I think the band is made from silicone.
