Has anyone tried juicing? I have a juicer but i have yet to find a recipe I actually like a lot. I bought the juicing for life book. Then yesterday went and bought some fruits. Didn't know if there were any juicers out there! Let me know if this helped the food cravings! I've not had surgery yet but trying to get a head start!:)

I've never done it, but I've seen it on tv and it looks fun.. but, also looks messy and I don't want to clean everytime I make a drink.

The green juices really look appetizing to me some reason lol.

I haven't made a green one yet most of those are veggies, and I'm not so sure I want to make a veggie drink! I have done apple with Honey dew melon, strawberry kiwi and orange, and I did a black berry banana with silken tofu. They aren't that bad...rather enjoyable! It's actually not all that messy to do, and I hate to clean too...LOL!!

I am having band surgery on 1/14. I started this new year working with my juicer. I think this is the perfect way to get your Vitamins, have an enjoyable, low calorie drink and be healthy! I did 3 carrots, 1/2 apple, parsley, brocolli stems and 2 celery. It was delicious. The carrot and apple make it sweet but not too sweet. Think of all the vitamins in just one drink. The volume, about 8 oz., really fills you up. I haven't figured out how to count the calories yet. I'm kind of surprised that more people don't use a juicer as it seems the perfect way to go. You can also throw in your Protein Powder and there's your meal! Any comments?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
