I take them, and at least in this pre-surgery mode, pills have been easy for me. I was told to stop taking this one 2 weeks before surgery. I'm hoping I won't have to take them after I lose a few pounds on the new diet

The fish oil is supposed to be good for your heart. I can't see that changing. Let the Dr know that you are taking them and any other over the counter meds. He had me stop them before the surgery, that and the aspirin. After the surgery I crushed my pills except the fish oil I had to wait a few weeks to take that again. I like have heart protection so I'll prob keep that Vitamin.< /p>

Having been banded on 10/3, taking the pills is not an option for me anymore.

I picked up a large bottle of liquid Omega 3 from a health food store and take a spoonful once or twice a day. ($47, wow!)

I have seen Centrum Silver in liquid at CVS but $9.99 worth lasted only 15 days. So I'm chewing a combination Vitamin tablet but may go back to the Silver if I can find a better deal or I run out of the other bottle of large, chewable pills any time soon.

I'm taking Lipitor without cutting it now (20mg.). So, so far that's not been an issue. Before I was cutting it in half, but at just under 2 months I'm not very restricted so it goes down easily.

They also have a liguid from in packets orange flavor which I took when I started losing my hair to help add nutrients to my system. Now that my hair has grown back in I do not take it anymore. 2 years out from surgery.

For those interested in Fish Oil for Omega 3--not familiar with the chewable from GNC, but don't think they are fish oil source for Omega 3. I went looking and found liquid emuslified fish oil (sounds awful but is mint flavored--not bad at all) from Twin Labs. In the health food store it was $13 a bottle, but online you can get it much cheaper. Go to vitacost.com, item number is TWL 4012294 03 Twinlab Omega-3 Emulsified Fish Oil 12 oz. It is $6.98 per bottle with $4.99 shipping for ANY SIZE order. I use Twin Labs Calcium Citrate with Magnesium and D also (5 TWL 4010085 03--$7.62 for 60 chewable, 4 per day dose) so I order several bottles of each to get the most bang for the $4.99 shipping. One tablespoon of the fish oil gets about 1600 Omega 3's, more than I was getting from two gelcaps.

For those interested in Centrum, there is a chewable, in silver too, about $11 at Target.

My nutrionist at our weight loss center puts everyone on a fish oil supplement at 4 wks post surgery. She recommends coromega. It is a liquid, it goes down easy and doesnt taste bad at all. I take one every day now, it is cheap at vitaminshoppe.com. Kelli

I agree with going to liquid or chewable form. What I found with pills post banding is that when restriction is tight, if I take a pill that is too large I get stuck and up it comes pretty quickly.

What is worse is that it is not like pb'ing, I actually vomit because you have to drink a full cup of Water with every pill and it builds up pressure. I now only take liquids or chewable anything.

The other benefit to going liquid or chewable is that I am much more likely to get the fish oil burps for a few hours post banding. It is not pleasant, but at least with liquid or chewable, if your pouch is empty you can flush it through your system fast with Water and never have that unpleasant side effect.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
