frannya 0 Posted November 24, 2008 Hi, I am Fran from CT, in am scheduled for surgery on Dec 3rd. I was to have surgrey on Nov 10th but it was cancelled due to illness, bad cough and the Doc said it was bad idea to go ahead with surgery because I would hate life for obvious reasons. I had to follow a pre-op diet of liquid protien for 2 weeks. I did ok the first time...lost 19 1/2 lbs in the 2 weeks. Now I am on the second round of the 2 week pre-op and having a hard time with only liquids. To top it off, I have to cook Thanksgiving dinner for my family and cant eat a thing. I am looking forward to not having food control my life. I am still coughing so I pray that in 10 days this cough will be gone. Can someone tell me how much pain is involved in the laproscopic surgery?
Daisalana 33 Posted November 24, 2008 Welcome franny.. Everyone's pain threshold is different. A lot of people said it was minor, just a little bit of aching.. So I went in thinking it would be pretty minor.. but honestly, I felt like someone had ripped up my insides! The good news is, they give you good pain meds in the hospital, and send you home with some.. so in the end, it's nothing you can't handle  Good luck with the dieting right now, I definitely feel for you. But this is just a blip in time, and post-op and post-post-op-diet.. you'll forget all about the troubles of these diets, and just love your band
Blueeyesinca95 0 Posted November 24, 2008 Yes everyone is different with laprascopic surgery. I had my gallbladder done in April 2007 and I did wonderful. I was on paid meds for one day and then no more after that. I am excited to get my lapband and am not too worried about the pain. If you have a high pain tolerance you should do well. I have had friends who don't have high pain tolerances and they did just as well. So good luck!!!!!!
