My name is Sonja, I was banded on May 4, 2005. I had a great experience with my doc and love him. I had my surgery here in ND, and I am doing well. I have had 2 fills, the last one is pretty good so far. I have lost about 36 pounds so far, (Including my pre-surgery liquid fast.) Hey, it is pounds lost, so I am including those! Anyway, I am so happy to have gotten the band.

I have a wonderfully supportive hubby and great daughter. I am at peace with my decision to change my life and am looking forward to the journey and getting to know all of you!

Hello everyone! I am currently awaiting approval for my lapband procedure! I have done my research long and hard and I feel I have made the right choice! I have been overweight all of my life and I am really excited about the big change! I have read so many of your inspirational stories so far. I am looking forward to posting a ticker to chart my progress. I had to get 2 years of medical history from my specialist along with just the general facts, high blood pressure, chronic fatigue, etc. I am a medical care provider and our insurance will approve the procedure it just takes so dang long! I am looking forward to it though thanks to all the posts.

Hello Everyone,

I had my band done last Monday with Dr Barker in Mesquite, and love it already, though I will be happy when I am able to taste real food again. I found LBT the other day, and so happy that I did. You all are a GREAT bunch! I have learned so much just reading what you all have gone through. Helps a great deal. My next project is to figure out how to get the Ticker going.

Betty

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
