mrswad1 0 Posted November 23, 2008 Hello- My name is Rhonda and I live in Central Illinois. I've been overweight for quite a few years now. I attribute gaining my weight to- quitting smoking, being on anti depressants for PPD. I've tried everything to loose weight. I have no will power. I always think that if I can quit smoking, I could quit eating. I really need advice. I don't know if the lap band is something for me....if I could even qualify or afford it. Can someone please help me w/ the beginning phase? Thanks so much- Rhonda
mrswad1 0 Posted November 24, 2008 Jack- Thanks so much for the reply. So, you're telling me even with the lap band you have to find a way to fight your overeating? It's a mental thing more than anything? So, no matter what, I have to learn to have will power? Lap band would just help me to drop the 100 lbs faster than a conventional diet? Thanks for the help- Rhonda

BellaPerdente 0 Posted November 24, 2008 I had a huge appetite before surgery and I didn't think this would change my ways of eating, but it does. As long as you don't start "eating around the band", you will do great. I have my bad days of eating things that are not good for me, but I CAN'T eat like I did before. That is the best part of the band. The volume of food is gone forever. So as long as you are committed to eating the right foods and following the band rules, it will work. I love my band and as you can see by my weight loss, IT'S WORKING!
Blueeyesinca95 0 Posted November 24, 2008 I went to the Lap Band seminar and my doctor told me there is a way to defeat every weight loss surgery. So yes the band can help you but it cant do everything for you. You will have to work with it. Good luck and I wish you well!
