Finally some restriction

Recommended Posts

So on Wednesday I went in for another fill. I now have 6cc's in a 10cc band. I officially feel restriction now! I was so excited to actually feel it! I had gone nearly 5 weeks without feeling anything...and my appetite was definitely in full force. I go back in three weeks to see how I'm doing. I was really disappointed to have only lost 1 lb in 5 weeks. So I am really hoping I am back on track now.

I had wanted to hit the 50lb mark by Thanksgiving or Christmas. Hopefully I won't be too far off even with the 5 week set back.

I went through the same thing. I got 2 more CC's last Monday and I'm FINALLY feeling restriction after 4 months! My dr. said I wasn't that big to begin with so it was going to be a slower process for me. He promised me I'd be down at least 6 lbs by next month. Well, with all the vomiting, sliming and chest pains I should be! I better be! I started at 189 and I'm now 169. I also wanted to be 50 lighter by Christmas but in all reality, I'll be happy to look nice in a bikini by next summer! LOL Hang in there with me. It's not a fast fix it's a tool. We have to make our tool work.

Good luck

Kellie

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
