Is fluorosocopy better?

Recommended Posts

Just went in for my third fill and doctor had a hard time adding more. He said I am at a point where I can easily get too tight, yet he wants to restrict me more. Finding that "sweet spot" is sometimes hard. After drinking 3 cups of Water he told me that if I did not fill restriction to call him on Monday and he will do a fill with a fluoroscopy. So far I feel no restriction. What will a fluoroscopy do to help with my third fill? Is this worth the extra trip to the doctor? I still need to lose 15 pounds.

a fill through fluroscopy is the only kind of fill i've had so i'm not sure if it's better or not?? I know it does allow the doctor to see how liquid is going through so he doesn't send you away too tight or too loose. My 2nd fill he put too much in and then when we did the barium swallow it didn't want to go empty out of the pouch so he took a little bit out and we did the swallow again and it then it was perfect. Had i been sent home like that, who knows how i would have felt.

I don't know, I think it's worth it...I think it helps them be a little more exact so that maybe you'll have less problems??

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
