7-13 was supposed to start a new life and now all i want is my old life back. Dr. overfilled during surgery and i paid dearly for 2 days. Now open all the way to relieve swelling so liquids last 15 minutes and go out the other way. Quick too-run girl-run!! Thinking of pulling it out myself! Someone please tell me what have i done??

Well first if all it is quite strange your Dr. filled during surgery, this is not standard protocal. WHo is your Dr.

Almost all Dr.'s wait unti latleast 6 weeks after to fil lthe band, it is vital to heal and let the swelling from surgery go down before you fill the band, I would ask your Dr. why he fills the band at surgery. Inamed does not reccomend this practice I can assure you. You have not done anything, it was your Dr. who did it, In my opinion he was incorrect to fill during surgery. I am sure others here will agree

Wow...I am fairly new with this and my Drs says no fill for 6 - 8 weeks post op. I will say I had the same problems running to the bathroom after EVERYTHING I put in my mouth. My sister who is an RN said it was because of the anti-botics they had me on the in hospital. It did take about a week and half before that got better. I couldn't leave the house the first week.

Hang in there it will get better!!! Don't give up yet.

They definetly should NOT have put any fill in for atleast 6 weeks. You will poop out everything you put in. I did within 10 minutes the first few days. Then it subsides.

I was filled during surgery to check the band for leaks and then the saline was removed again. I don't know if this is standard procedure, but I know for a fact it is practiced by Dr. Felix Spiegel of the Texas Laporascopic Center. I have the pictures to prove it.

Like you said the saline was removed again, it was not left in you.

Having a fill and leaving it in before the swelling has gone down can be dangerous. I could barely get Water down after my surgery just from the swelling of the surgery, I could not imagine having a fill at the same time.

You can do it. The first few days are a doozey (at least they were for me) and I didn't have your complications. Just stick with it another day. And tell yourself that *each day*. Just go one day at a time. I literally did a 180 degree flop in one week - I felt SOOOO much better.

Also, I had the runs the first few days post op. It ended as well (thankfully)

I was terribly swollen the first week or so and was miserable because I could barely get anything down. Yeah, I had the runs VERY bad for almost two weeks. They never really cleared up until I started on mushies. Like My O My said, every day gets a little bit better. Stay strong, it DOES improve.

Are you walking at all? I mean even around your living room. For some reason, it seemed to me the more I got up and around the better the swelling felt.

I wonder too if they gave you any anti-inflamitory meds. I got two shots while in the hospital for the swelling and I think that made a huge difference too.

I know how you feel because I freaked out and wanted to pull my Band out in the beginning, too (I think a lot of us felt that way.)

Take it from me, it will get better. And I'm the resident expert on complications since I've already had 4 major Band related surgeries and two ports removed. I am in debt up to my ears, but I know there's hope, and I know one day I'll start losing weight again. Just be positive, it will get better.

I have the Vanguard 10ml band. My doctors standard procedure is to put 2.5mls in during surgery. I also wondered what I had done for about a week after surgery. The pain and running to the toilet plus the lost of my best friend food was just too much. Once you start feeling better you will realise this is the best thing you have ever done for yourself.

Good Luck
