inuit 0 Posted November 21, 2008 Hi all. I am inuit. I live in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada. After a 3 year wait, I saw the baratric surgeon today. He said i most likely will have surgery early in 09. The entire thing is covered by medicare. I thought I wanted the gastric bypass but after meeting with him, now I think the lapband may be better. I am 5 foot 2 inches tall and weigh 261 lbs. Can't hardly wait to feel normal again.
inuit 0 Posted November 23, 2008 When I met with my surgeon on Thursday, he said that I needed to start eating my meals without liquids. He said to drink either 30 minutes before meals or 1 hour after. I won't be getting surgery for at least 4 months. Did anyone else start this this early? It sounds really hard. I have not yet been able to do it.
serenity55 15 Posted November 23, 2008 (edited) Hi Inuit, I haven't had surgery yet, but I'm learning that every little thing I can do beforehand will help. I don't usually drink liquids with my meals, so I'm ahead of the game there, but I do have to make myself exercise, and I do have to try harder to stop eating sweets. I've cut back, have smaller portions, but, as you say, it's really hard to change old habits. Hopefully someone will come along with some helpful hints. Welcome, and keep posting. Sometimes just connecting with people helps. Good luck. Edited November 23, 2008 by serenity55
