Well, I'm getting my band as of next Tuesday (11/25) & would like any suggestions on what must have food items I should have when I'm at home for my liquid stage.

Thank you sooooo much! :drool:

Hi Mommyof5,

I was banded on Tuesday, November 18th and other than what has already been suggested, you need to make sure you have some chewable supplements, sublingual B12, and Calcium.

Also, I would suggest that you make sure that the broth you have is Protein enriched. I purchased the unjury chicken Soup which tastes fine and is a good source of Protein. If you don't want to eat too much or can't tolerate it, you can also purchase some whey Liquid Protein bullets on ibariatric.com which are 3oz shots of 42g of protein. Women need at least 50g of protein daily, so that will give you a jump start.

Things are going well for me, so I hope you do well too.

Good luck :drool:

Nat

I had a bunch of the things that other posters mentioned, but I'll put my whole list of full liquids here even though there are repeats with earlier posts. My doctor recommended the camomile tea -- apparently it's good for helping get rid of gas, which is an issue for everyone after the surgery. .

* chicken boullion & beef boullion (I had these from clear liquid diet, but I didn't really use them post-op)

* Organic chicken broth (which I didn't wind up drinking b/c it was too bland, but did use for Soups that I made)

* Isopure vanilla shake mix (BLECH!!! Barely touched it after I found out about the next thing on the list.)

* Isopure Protein Drink (Yum compared to the shake -- I bought it at GNC --no carbs, sugar free, 46 grams of protein)

* Skim milk

* Camomile tea

* Cranberry juice (all natural, no sugar added. . to be diluted)

* Gatoraid (I was worried about dehydration, but b/c of calories and b/c I could drink as much Water as I wanted, I didn't wind up drinking these & they are still in the fridge)

* Fat-free, sugar-free popsicles

* Fat-free, sugar-free Jello Gelatin (which I didn't really use -- I don't love gelatin)

* Fat-free, sugar-free Jello pudding (yum yum!! That's now a staple on the shopping list.)

* Cream of Wheat (which I like OK, but have only made twice or so)

* Flintstones chewable vitamins

* Organic canned Soups

* Soups that I made myself (recipes & photos are posted on my blog) -- That's one of my favorites

* Yogurt smoothie (only had once -- hadn't realized they were so high in sugar)

* Cottage cheese (which I blended with skim milk to make more liquid -- was my favorite thing)

* Bananas (which I blended with skim milk to make a nice smoothie for Breakfast -- yum!)

* Fat free yogurt

Hope that helps! :drool:

Check out unjury. Of all the Protein Drinks I tried I liked theirs the best. But my suggestion on Protein drinks is don't go crazy buying them. 10 months later I still have a ton because I got 3 very large containers of non-unjury. Unjury has a chicken Protein broth and you will definitely want something savory since most things liquid come in the form of sweet.

Best of luck!

Decaf tea if you like tea.

Shaved ices of all flavors.

SF Cheesecake pudding is very good...add a bit of extra milk to make a bit creamier.

SF chocolate pudding is excellent.

        Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

        Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

      Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

      Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

        Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
