Lol, nothing. Sweet coffees like that is a habit I dont need. Actually Starbucks havent done well in Australia, I think they're actually closing down. I like a lot more European style coffee, like a flat white or a real latte - which is just a little glass with 1/3 espresso and 2/3 steamed milk - not sweet at all. Luckily that's mostly what coffee is here - its really only Starbucks and Gloria Jeans that do the more American style stuff so I havent found it too hard to resist. I've just been raised to not drink calories so I avoid stuff like that and soda etc without a second thought - its a life habit.

Still fit plenty of bad calories in in more solid form though!

I guess as long as you realise its as many calories as a MEAL and you account for it though you can indulge yourself. Surely you can find the nutritional info for all the products online?

they have skinny lattes that contain Protein. my favorite is the cinnamon dolce.

Mine too! I used to get the caramel macchiato (sp?), but now I get the cinnamon dolce skinny latte. I love it!

i've always just gotten the chai tea. gosh i love that stuff. but now i think i'll try that cinnamon dolce skinny latte thing you're talkin about! gonna go compare calories...

EDIT: when you say skinny, do you mean nonfat milk? also, do you ask for sugar-free Syrup? it says a tall cinnamon dolce latte with nonfat milk and sugar-free syrup is only 90 calories!!!

Well, my Starbucks pre-op fave was a white mocha nonfat no whip. However, post op, I don't like the taste of it any more. I didn't realize my taste buds would change with the surgery, but they have.

Don't do Starbucks runs much these days (weaning off caffeine) but when I do it's a grande non-fat half-caf latte. That's pre-op. Post-op, if I go, I'll probaby do the same, but make it "short" instead. Only 68 calories in a short vs. 136 in a grande.

Well I try to stay away from chocolate, but a really good healthy latte that you can get almost anywhere is a sugar free caramel skim milk latte- SO GOOD! They do actually have Sugar Free Chocolate too. The syrups are just made with splenda. But as long as you don't get too many lattes a day, it is pretty good... its mostly the calories in the skim milk that you have to pay attention to. Skim milk- 90 calories for 1 cup. Also when it gets warm again, a "light frappuncino" is good... again they use spenda in the mix and there is no whip cream. Can you tell I used to work for a coffee shop?

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
