Dr.'s in Chicago?

Recommended Posts

Guest angiewiu

Hi all, my name is angie and I am new to this website. I have been researching the Lap Band for quite some time now and have decided taht I want it done yesterday!! I do need some advice. I live near Springfield Illinois and there is one doctor located here in jacksonville that does the procedure. He has only done about 20 to date and DOES NOT use fluro on his fills, these are the 2 main things that scare me. I have heard so many great things about Dr. Horgan in Chicago....do you think it would be silly of me to drive 5 hrs to have him do the procedure or should I just stick with whats near me?? I dotn want to put my health on hte back burner but I al so dont want to have to drive 5 hrs many times a month, I would hope that I would not have to go so many times but you never know!! Also, I am almost sure that my insurance covers it, i have BCBS hmo. Will they cover any surgeon that your PCP refers or how does that work> I really appreciate your time and advise!@ I am so ready to join the many of you that are feeling so great about yourselves! If preferrable, you can email me directly at angiewiu@hotmail.com Thanks, Angie!!!!

I see Dr. Lahmann at Midwest Comprehensive Bariatric in Joliet at Silver Cross Hospital 815-723-8571. They are my aftercare doctors and everyone there has been just great. ~Mandy

I am using Dr. Lutfi at Mercy Hospital in Chicago. My surgery has just been postponed until April 8th. They came HIGHLY recommended. I would make the drive. While they are slower than all get out in terms of getting back to me, they are taking care of all of the paperwork for me. Please let me know if I can answer any of your questions.

I am helping a friend with some research who is interested in having the Lap Band, any of you from the Illinois are have any good Dr.'s to reccomend so I can email him the info?

I would encourage your friend to see Dr Alverdy from University of Chicago hospitals, he is truly the best. I went to another Dr and now I have many regrets...............warning do not use Dr Rossett ..........the after care is horrible, you can't get a return phone call and he doesn't like to give any fills....................my surgery was done without filling my band and he has only filled it once since my surgery and its been 6 months!!!!!!!

thank you, i'm going through HMO insurance and I guess it has to clear before they let me know but they asked which would l prefer uic or loyola.
I had my lap bad done at Loyola Medical Center in Maywood in September 2008. As far as I understand it Dr. Sharfi Sarker is the only surgeon doing the lap band at Loyola. Check out if uic has any type of support group. The support group at Loyola is basically defunct. Surgery-wise, Loyola was fantastic. They took excellent care of me.

I heard that they had a death for one of the gastric bypass patients and so they stopped doing gastric bypass and now the only weight loss surgery they do is lap band. They have no real bariatric division to speak of. Just Dr. Sarker.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
