Hi, I am new to this site, I have some questions and do not really want to talk to the doctor where I got my band done, I'm feeling more like a number than an actual patient. The last couple of days I have been noticing a pain in my belly, it is not where the band would be, it is kinda close to where the port is, but I still can't feel the port. I am 8 weeks out from surgery. Anyway, when I twist or lift (or even twice, just walk) it feels like I am being sliced with a knife from the inside. My large incision IS red and irritated, but the doctors that I have talked to about that don't seem to think that is anything to worry about. So, does anyone have any input as to why I am having those feelings and should I be worried?:cursing:

Find another doc! Maybe someone else in the practice but better to go elsewhere. Maybe start with your family doctor -- at least find someone who will listen to you :-) good luck...

The area can still be sore from surgery since you are only 8 weeks out. I would continue to watch lifting and pulling. THe port is sewed to that muscle and can stay tender for quiet some time but it shouldn't be causing severe pain - maybe discomfort, but nothing serious. If the incision area is red, swollen and infected, you need to see a doctor right away. If you run a fever - it means it is infected. When you lay down on your back - feel around for the port - sometimes you can feel it that way. I couldn't feel my port right away. Take it easy for awhile and if it continues, I would make sure my doctor knows my name and get an appt, not just a number. Good luck

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
