ok everyone, I'm a week out today. My incision where the port was placed, which is my biggest incision looks like half the size of a tennis ball.it shows through shirts and all. It looks like a big lump on my stomach. Should this be? Should it be this big in the first place? If so, should it have went down by now. Another reason for me to panic!

Hmm...do you have severe pain, swelling or seepage? I had a slight raised scar but nothing that large.

no severe pain, no seepage, it is tender to the touch still and it is a noticiable size. I was I guess what you would consider a low bmi'er and my mide section wasn't huge. Not sure if that makes a difference as to the appearance of the size but I don't rhink it should. Also, it is warmer over and around this incision. What to do??????????????

It doesn't sound like an emergency but it is something you should discuss with your doc on your next visit. Have you had a follow-up visit yet?

I had the same experience and they said it was just swelling. I had enough belly fat that you could not see it when I was standing up, but if I layed down you could see the bump and you could nicely cup your hand over it - maybe not quite like a tennis ball, but similar. I am about 2 months out and the swelling has gone down a lot be if I eat too much, you can still feel a bump there. Now it is more like an egg - or half of a hard boiled egg. They said after I had my one month check up that the swelling probably would not be there the next time, but when I went back again, there was still some but they were not concerned.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
