You could still be swollen from the surgery. I think my port area was swollen for at least two weeks.

I had an issue with Fluid retention the first week after surgery, and then all of a sudden I let go of the Fluid and lost a bunch of weight.

Best wishes to you. Rest, Relax, and Recuperate.

Sue

I agree with Sue. I was swollen for a little over 2 weeks. They pump you full of Fluid during surgery. It takes your body a little bit to get rid of it.

Hey Newme2008,

Well first we have something in common we both were banded on nov 14th! yippy! I just came back from my post op appt and I am down 15 lbs and I have moved to full liquids. Over all I feel good I am just real Gassy! I was told to walk alot but I really didnt do alot of that because the more I walked it seem the gas would get worse. The other day I cried and really second quess my self about choosing to have the lapband because I felt like crap! at that moment it felt like I was going to be jacked up forever! I prayed and did a little research and learned all of this will pass and we will be normal again! Thank GOD! well keep in touch we can encourage each other!

Yeah I agree that you are still swollen and maybe a little fluffy from the gas that they fill you with during surgery. I would go with a dress so that you are comfortable. Maybe something a-line or with an empire waist-that would be cute!

I was banded 10/29 and I too felt and looked bloated for the first week or so. It takes a little while and now people are really beginning to see my weight loss and my clothes are really getting lose. Be patient.

I decided to take my measurements so I can also keep track of my changing dimensions that way.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
