I have been told different things. I was once told 30 minutes before and 1 hour after. I also was told 1 hour before and 2 hours after. i think the longer you go with out drinking the more your body learns what feeling full feels like.

My doc says 1/2 hour before and 2 hours after. What stinks is if I have something salty to eat I can get really thirsty. I was also told by the doc. that if I need to I can take a SMALL sip of something if I am having a hard time swallowing something. That seems to help sometimes and not others. Since my last fill....6.5 cc's in a 10 cc band I have really noticed the restriction for the first time and am really struggling with eating without throwing up and feeling "stuck".

WOW...2 hours after. How do you manage to get in all of your Water each day? Doesn't seem like that leaves you much time.

I also experience that, in one day i only drink Water once and after that i will not feel thirsty anymore.

sometimes I don't manage that, if I get really thirsty a while after I eat I'll drink, I don't totally watch the clock but for the most part it is not as hard as it sounded like it would be.

I think each person is different. I honestly can't remember what my doctor advised. I do know, however, that if I try to drink and eat at the same time, it's a terrible, embarrassing, disgusting thing - so needless to say, I avoid it.

I generally drink up to only a few minutes before I eat- I'm not tight enough for Water not to go immediately through the pouch. Afterwards, depending on what I eat, I may not drink for 10 minutes, 20 minutes, or an hour- it all depends on how full I feel. Once I feel 'empty' again, it's ok to drink.

Caution though: I dont know if this works for everyone; you are definitely better off listening to a doctors advice

My doc advised, 30 minutes before meals to last no longer than 20 minutes and wait 30 minutes after. Sometimes I wait longer based on my fullness. Good luck!

My Dr. said 30 min's. before and 1 hour after meals. Most of the time I follow the 30 min.'s before. If I am busy at work, I do not get to go to lunch at the same time. But I do follow the 1 hour after meals. This works for me.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
