IaLadybug 1 Posted October 9, 2003 My husband and I were at the hospital at 0630 on Monday, my Dr has you stay overnight so home Tuesday about 2 p.m. I had to be one of the people who has alot of shoulder pressure from gas, scale of 1-10 right at the 10 level, almost couldn't breath! Still having a little problem with it but not bad this morning. Otherwise everything seems to be going great!! No problem swallowing the liquid for the test to be sure my stomach wasn't swollen shut, she puts some orange koolaid in it, I think that just made it taste worse. Right now I'm living on 1 can of boost a day, 1 popsicle a day and a little Jello container, hope that's enough for now. I can't stand the thought of broth yet! I haven't posted alot on the boards but have enjoyed reading all the comments, thus I had a better understanding of what was going on. One of the nurses told me this is becoming the most popular surgery performed, they did 9 Monday, for a city of about 80,000 it seems like quite a few! Alexandra 55 Posted October 9, 2003 Congratulations, Ladybug! These next few days will likely be the worst you'll feel through the entire banding process. And it's not that bad, is it? Sounds like you came through it with flying colors! Hope to see you around more often, and that you'll be another one of the success stories!
soon2bskinny 0 Posted October 10, 2003 Walk, walk, and walk some more. That should help with the gas pain. It did for me anyways. Also, make sure you try to get your Protein in somewhere with what little you are taking in. I don't know how much protein Boost has but I did Protein Shakes. I use EAS Carb Control shakes but there are plenty others. The protein keeps the hunger at bay and you don't risk losing your hair. Congrats on your surgery and welcome to the other side. Keep us posted and best wishes to you.
IaLadybug 1 Posted October 10, 2003 Finally this morning the gas pain is gone!! Still had problems last evening but not nearly as bad. For those of you who don't have this problem you are very very lucky Now if the port pain would go away I'd be set:)
roxanne 0 Posted October 10, 2003 Glad to hear your doing better,I also had the darn gas pain, it wasn't constant it would come and go, at times just laying down for 10-15 min. would help. I am 9 weeks post op now and down 25 lbs. so all the gas pain was worth it. Roxanne
GingerRenayd2 0 Posted October 13, 2003 I have that arm gas pain too. My surgery was 10-08-03 I feel better today but the arm pain it is still hanging on. The healthy vally chicken broth is good. It has 7gram of Protein and has a nice taste. not real salty. I had to get the kids up for school this morning and that was hard for me. My body was still in sleep mode.
