Anyone know about the Bajanor Obesity Center??

Recommended Posts

I am looking into going to Dr. Mariano Covarrubias Hildago in TJ at the Bajanor Obesity Center. Has anyone heard anything good or bad about this establishment or it's doctors? I have searched and cannot find any bad news, but not whole lot of good news... just a few testimonials.

Thanks for your help..biggrin.gif

I would check into Dr Ortiz, he is supposed to be one of the best over there in TJ. Also from what I understand was one of the origiinal Drs to learn and has been the teacher for others....

I have never heard of this Dr.. You can call his office and ask for his credentials and a list of references. When choosing my Dr. in TJ, I went with one of the most expereinced and he came highly reccomended to me by a Dr. here in Calfiornia who was taught by this Dr. in TJ. I have not regretted my decision for one singlesecond. I have gotten great care from day 1

Best of luck to you on your decision :(

Thank you for the advice. I was going to go with Dr. Ortiz at first, but then I found out about this Dr. and he is about 2k cheaper. That is very appealing to me since I am of course a self-pay.

I am still thinking about Ortiz, but I might have to push back my date.

I will keep on researching.. keep your ears peeled for me.

In Mexico, cheaper doesnt always mean better. I did NOT mention my doctor in my earlier post but since you mentioned his name I will tell you Dr. Ortiz is the Dr. I used and Iam very happy with him, his staff and the aftercare I have recieved from OCC

Best of Luck on your decision

Angie - I am also considering the Bajanor facility and Dr. Covarrubias as I know three people who have gone there with good results. What did you decide to do?

Angie, I don't know anything about Banjor. Do they charge you for fills? Are all accomodations included? I too was banded by Drs. Ortiz & Martinez & so was my daughter. I would not let $2K stand in the way of what I considered top-notch care. Good luck w/your decision, please let us know how everything goes.

I haven't yet decided. I am still thinking about Bajanor. Their price is $8000 including airfare, all hospital expenses but no aftercare included. I am also thinking about Dr.Verboonen. I know about the whole medical fraud thing, but I am not really concerned with that as of yet. Their price is $9000 includes airfare for the patient and a companion, all hosp fees, hotel (but there is an extra charge for the companion to stay in the hotel $100/night) and first fill with airfare for the patient. I have heard good things about this Dr verboonen. I am really leaning towards him.

Any input on dr. verboonen?

I was a self-pay, and had my surgery done by Dr. De La Garza in Monterry, MX. I think he did a fantastic job! I had hardly any discomfort. After recovery, I felt like I didn;t even have surgery. Do your research and go with who you feel if is right.

Good luck...

RE: Dr. verboonen?

I did a search (on the top of the page) & came up w/a few comments about him. They were all positive. Maybe you should PM those people.

Best,

I went there last August - I posted above about knowing 3 other people who had gone there. We have all had good experiences - was a great facility for all of us. Good Luck! Let us know what you decide!

How much did you pay?

My daughter and I are scheduling our lap bands in November 2009 and we have been concerned with Bajanor. Thank you for the posts. I'll keep investigating. Any information would be so helpful.

Thank you

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
