Hi everyone. I am soo excited to have found this site.

I just got the referal from my doctor and the surgeon thinks I can get my surgery done in December-so merry christmas to me .

So I thought I'd share a little about myself:

I've been overweight a great deal of my life but I've never really let it hold me back. I am currently 20 but only for a couple more months(my wish for my 21st birthday is to get in some skinny jeans :(). I am a very active person. I love to play soccer-believe it or not I love to run. I also love horse back riding-its my life, I ride just about daily and am on my college equestrian team. I am also a Vet Tech-which is by no means at all a desk job.

I'm hoping that I can finally lose the weight for good and not have to go over all those hurdles I face in my daily life because of my weight.

So thats pretty much it.:)

You are so smart to get this taken care of at a young age.

Good luck with your surgery and welcome to Lap Band Talk.

You have come to the right place. Everyone here is so supportive, and it's so nice to have somewhere to come to get support and share your weight loss with everyone!

Hi Spring Dixie--

I was very excited to find this site, too. I am relatively new to posting, but have found people to be very receptive and helpful. I think that you'll find this a very supportive tool.

I've been overweight my whole life, too. I was quite active and was just getting into running when I injured my back last year. Unfortunately, it's greatly limited my physical activity. I'm pretty much only doing aqua aerobics right now, but am hopeful that the surgery will relieve some of the pressure on my back and I'll be able to resume some of my activities.

I don't have a surgery date yet. I complete my six-month medically supervised diet program tomorrow, which is the last big piece before I can apply for coverage. I'm optimistic that I'll be approved and have a date before the end of the year.

Welcome to the site! As you explore the various groups and sub-groups, you'll find answers to most of your questions. And if you don't, just ask. Someone will get back to you.

All the best!

Thanks you guys. I have already found this site to be so helpful. I had some concerns about post surgery but reading through some of the treads eased my mind, and it was nice to see other people concerned with the same things I am.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
